- # Beds: 25 Total- (4 of those are SCU- which is ICU/ stepdown level of care)- Nurse/Patient Ratios: Days MS 1:3-4 1:4-5 Nights-- SCU 1:1-1:2 for Vented. 1:3 with drips. Some willtake a SCU patient and med surg depending on acuity.- Required Certifications: BLS ACLS for everyone- Prefer PALS.- Typical Patients: COPD, CHF, Sepsis, GI surg, uro surg- CBI, ortho surgery, SBO, DKA, NStemi, Detox,pyelo, Peds- infrequent.- Experience: One year for Med Surg, ICU- 3 years. Prefer peds experience. First time travelers areokay.- Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Propofol, levo, precedex, cardizem, nitro, amio, insulin. MS willsee heparin and occasional Insulin. Pharmacy or House supervisor mixes drips.- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: House sup 24/7. Charge nurse assigned on the unit 24/7 as well.7-3 does not take assignment. 1 takes an assignment.- Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios: Yes- Days: 3-4
Nights: 2 on.- Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: Promary care follows- hospitalist comes from the clinics thatcovers. One from each of the two clinics. Avel- represents the hospitalists for the Essentia group.Also have critical care on demand- intensivist and nurse.- RT in ICU 24/7: Assigned to the floor 24/7.- RT Equipment: Manage vents, set up bipap.- Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit?: Special care nurse monitors strips and reads. TheICU/SDU nurse must be able to read tele strips. MS won't read tele.- Shifts & Scheduling: 12 hours. 7-730. Will allow block schedules. No self scheduling.- Weekend Requirements: 2 out of 4 weekends.- Holiday Requirements: Staff assigned to holidays. Travelers may be asked to fill in. Must be flexibleto fill in if needed.- Is there a call or standby requirement?: No- Floating Requirements: No floating outside of the unit.- Scrub Color/Dress Code: No- any solid color scrubs.- Unit/Department specific orientation: One day with manager for education/policies.
