Description:Central Sterile Endoscope Processing Technician IISchedule: Monday-Friday, 11:00am to 7:30pm - Rotating Weekends

General Summary:Under the guidance of the CSPS Endoscopy Processing Manager, the Central Sterile Endoscope Processing Technician 2 independently performs core responsibilities in the Endoscope Sterile Processing Department. This includes receiving, decontamination, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and inventory management of reusable medical devices.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Decontamination and Cleaning of Reusable Medical Devices:
Utilize approved personal protective equipment (PPE) during all tasks.Receive, decontaminate, and document the arrival and cleaning process of equipment, instruments, scopes, and supplies.Disassemble items as needed and select appropriate cleaning methods.Identify items in need of repair and maintain information during the cleaning process.Utilize manual and automated cleaning tools for instrument decontamination.Clean work area upon completion of tasks.
Assembly and Packaging of Reusable Medical Devices:
Document all work using instrument tracking software.Inspect and assemble equipment following product recipes.Document missing items and escalate for further guidance.Identify and place appropriate internal indicators.Select appropriate packaging method and transport items for sterilization.
Sterilization and High-Level Disinfection of Reusable Medical Devices:
Interpret package labeling and select appropriate sterilization methods and cycles.Perform routine sterilizer testing and document results.Inspect packages for external indicators and labels.Perform ATP testing on endoscopes as required.Utilize approved PPE during all tasks.
Inventory Management:
Inspect items during the pick process and communicate unmet supply requests.Return unused supplies to proper stock location.Qualifications:Licenses & Certifications Required:
CRCST or CBSPD certification.Preferred: CER certification.
Education:
Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent.Preferred: Some college or Associate’s Degree.
Experience:
Required: At least one year of direct experience in Sterile Processing functions within an operative setting.Preferred: Experience in a large Academic Medical Center or Trauma Center.
Working Conditions:
Must be able to perform all Sterile Processing functions.Position requires rotating weekend and on-call requirements.Involves large amounts of time walking and standing.Exposure to the Operating Room environment is required.Strict dress code including wearing surgical scrubs is required.Must be able to frequently lift up to 25 lbs. stoop, bend, pull, and place and retrieve material.EEO StatementMassachusetts General Hospital is an Affirmative Action Employer.
