Our client is a capital funding organization focused on providing long-term investments to companies who operate in the manufacturing and power infrastructure solutions space. With over 175 years of combined leadership experience, our client supports 3 distinct organizations under their funding umbrella which encompasses over 700k sq. ft. of manufacturing space and just under 700 employees across 5 states.
This VP of Operational Excellence position is a unique opportunity for candidates to support the development of exceptional companies in the power infrastructure sector. This role will be responsible for driving all operational, manufacturing and continuous improvement strategy initiatives for the firm which will require expertise in these areas within the manufacturing sector. This hire will oversee both the Quality and Safety departments for our client and will work cross-functionally to implement best practices, enhance productivity, and support the company’s growth objectives. This role will be based in Dallas, TX and will require travel (20-30%+) to manufacturing sites across the US.
SCOPE OF WORK
The primary focus of this position is to drive operational excellence and process improvement strategies for our client’s manufacturing operations across the US. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
Lead initiatives at our client’s operating companies to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs and enhance safety and quality.
Provide strategic direction and leadership to the operational excellence team including Quality and Safety.
Develop a customer-centric quality management system to drive value for customers and vendors.
Develop and implement new safety programs as needed to drive a clean record for safety incidents.
Strategize and execute strategic planning initiatives and track program implementation success.
Work closely with manufacturing and supply chain leadership to identify/analyze key manufacturing processes to determine areas for improvement. Implement Lean, Six Sigma, operational KPIs and other process improvement methodologies to drive operational excellence.
Conduct regular onsite reviews at manufacturing facilities and provide actionable insights to senior leadership. Utilize advanced analytics and real-time data to drive decision-making and operational adjustments.
Develop and implement strategies to optimize operations in high-velocity environments, ensuring rapid response to market changes and customer demands. Ensure that operational processes are scalable and adaptable to support rapid growth and expansion. Monitor and measure the effectiveness of process improvements and make adjustments as needed.
Work closely with the executive leadership team, including finance, HR, and IT to ensure seamless integration of operational excellence initiatives.
Collaborate with operating company leaders to identify and address operational challenges. Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support operational excellence goals. Manage resistance to change and ensure a smooth transition to new processes and practices.
Provide mentorship, work reviews, and career pathing for team members in the operational improvement, quality control, and/or manufacturing safety disciplines. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and provide career growth opportunities to junior team members.
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management or a related field is required. MBA is preferred.
10+ years of experience in operational excellence, quality assurance, or process improvement within a manufacturing organization.
Proven track record of leading successful operational excellence initiatives and driving significant improvements in efficiency and effectiveness.
Strong knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma and other process improvement methodologies.
Expertise of industry-specific operational best practices and standards and strong track record of success implementing or managing KPIs related to operational efficiencies.
