At National Grid Ventures, we’re investing in the technologies that will ignite a new era of clean energy.We’re spearheading the development of a new generation of subsea electricity interconnectors that will not only enable clean power to flow between countries but also allow large volumes of offshore wind to be connected at the same time.That's why we're recruiting for two Heads of Commercial Project Development to join the European Offshore Development executive team. You'll lead on the commercial aspects of project development for either the LionLink Project or Nautilus Project following Ofgem’s approval of the Initial Project Assessment. This directorate leads the development of the next wave of offshore grid business development activities in conjunction with our EU partners and in line with the strategic direction of National Grid plc in the North Sea.These roles can be based from Warwick or London, and you can enjoy our hybrid working from office and home. We are open to full time and part time applicants, as well as flexible working arrangements.Key accountabilities

Commercial strategy : develop and implement a commercial project strategy which aligns with the organisation goals, the project characteristics and the partner’s specificities.Manage all commercial aspects of the project : assess the commercial risks and opportunities of the project within an evolving environment.Stakeholder management on commercial topics : lead a matrix project team in having effective discussions with our European partners and progress the commercial agreement underpinning the project development.Ensure financial viability of the project : manage project budgets, forecasting financial performance and ensuring that projects are financially viable.Compliance : ensure the commercial agreement comply with the legal and regulatory requirements.Report and drive improvement : Provide clear and regular updates to senior management on project status, performance, commercial risks and opportunities, and resulting recommendations.Team leadership : Lead and coach a team to allow them to meet their full potential. Foster a collaborative, innovative and engaged culture, encouraging a safe-to-say environment.About you

In this case, we’re looking for someone who has:A strong track record of delivery and performance – a self-starter, confident and independent, ability to work to tight deadlines in a high pace environment.Experience of programme execution in large and complex corporate and commercial environments, with an ability to apply a broad set of strategic frameworks to solve real business issues.An ability to understand and quickly assess new commercial risks and opportunities within project development, prioritise them and implement solutions.Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, demonstrated through a track record in current and/or previous roles.Financial acumen, with the ability to understand projects IRR, and the key levers for those, both on the cost and revenue angle.An ability to create high quality performance management for a wide variety of audiences and incorporating multiple data sets, ideally with portfolio management experience on capital assets development.An understanding of interconnectors and broad understanding of the energy industry and wider economic, social and political forces impacting upon it.What you'll get

A competitive starting salary between £78,000 - £100,000 – dependent on capability.As well as your base salary, you will receive a full electric company car or cash alternative, a bonus of up to 20% of your salary for stretch performance, private medical insurance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
