Good Inside is looking for an innovative storyteller and a pragmatic Director of Business Intelligence, who can lead a team of Business Intelligence Analysts and Analytics Engineers tasked with turning data into actionable business recommendations for the Product, Marketing, Content, and Finance teams. You'll report to the Head of Finance and will work closely with stakeholders across Good Inside, collaborating to drive real-world impact and address the most pressing business questions that need to be solved. We need someone who can excel with stakeholders at all levels of the business to cut through the business and data noise, identify what truly matters, and communicate insights in plain English. This is a hybrid role based in Manhattan with three days onsite.What You’ll Own

Team Leadership and Development: Lead and manage a small team of business intelligence analysts and analytics engineers and foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.Problem Solving: Hear ambiguous business needs and propose the best plan to address those questions with a grounded data-first framework.Insight Generation and Visualization: Analyze qualitative, quantitative, and behavioral data in SQL to uncover actionable insights that drive business growth and product improvements.Experimentation: Act as a thought partner for designing experiments to test hypotheses and inform decision-making.Prioritization: Prioritize the team’s work to maximize benefit to the business balancing speed and accuracy, focusing on high-impact analyses that move the business forward.Best Practices: Stay up-to-date with the latest technology and ensure the implementation of best practices in business intelligence and storytelling, including stakeholder collaboration, code reviews, testing, and documentation.Process: Document best practices, architectural choices, and processes related to analytics engineering and analysis.Mentorship: Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for team members.Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with teams across the company to understand their needs and deliver insights that drive action.Your Skills & Experience

You have 10+ years of experience in analytics roles focused on data analytics that includes exposure to Marketing, Product, and Finance teams.You have hands-on experience with SQL, data modeling, and tools such as dbt, Snowflake, Fivetran, and Mode.You have successfully led analytic teams, developed team members skills, and have demonstrated an ability to use data and analytics to help businesses make great decisions and become more successful.You will be comfortable functioning as the leader of the team as well as in an individual contributor capacity when necessary.You are equal parts business person, manager, data modeler, and reporting expert.You have outstanding upward leadership skills, helping the senior management team understand analyses, why some requests are more time consuming than others, why the results of a test were not statistically significant or why something was prioritized ahead of their request.You are an excellent teacher and mentor to less experienced or less skilled team members.You love to learn and are a fast learner who knows how to educate yourself on new topics.You have experience helping to select, build out, and facilitate company adoption of a Business Intelligence platform, ideally more than once.You have a practical mindset that prioritizes actionable insights; you are comfortable delivering an 80% correct answer that gets the team moving and can articulate the tradeoffs and risks of using the quick answer over a perfect answer.You have excellent listening and communication skills, with the ability to dissect the true business needs by reading between the lines of what is being asked, proposing the path forward, and bringing even your non-data savvy stakeholders along with you.You’re excited to solve tough questions at the intersection of media content, consumer tech, and ed tech in a newly created category of Parenting Education where we are defining the landscape.You're not just about crunching numbers – you're about solving real business problems and making recommendations based on your expertise and understanding of the data.You can take a complex dataset and quickly identify the "so what?" that matters to the business.If the perfect data isn’t available, you know how to get scrappy to piece together an analysis that gets the team to a better decision than they would have otherwise had.You're always thinking about the next step: "Now that we know this, what should we do?" and you proactively answer the next layer questions.You're not afraid to challenge assumptions and can back up your recommendations with solid data.You're excited about continuously learning and adapting your skills to drive business impact.What We Offer
