The Independent Consultation and Investigation Mechanism (MICI for its initials in Spanish) is the independent accountability mechanism of the Inter-American Development Bank Group (IDB, IDB Invest, and IDB Lab). It started operations in September 2010, and its operation is governed by the IDB and IIC MICI Policies that are currently in effect. The MICI is a last resort alternative for addressing the concerns of groups of individuals or communities who allege that they are or might be adversely affected by IDB Group-financed operations due to institutional non-compliance with its operational policies.The MICI's objective is to provide a mechanism and process independent of IDB Management to investigate allegations by Requesters of harm produced by the Bank’s failure to comply with its Relevant Operational Policies in IDB Group Financed Operations. This objective is fulfilled through two Phases: Consultation and Compliance Review. The Consultation Phase aims to provide an opportunity for the parties to address the issues raised by the requesters related to harm caused by the failure to comply with one or more relevant Operational Policies in the context of a Bank-financed operation. The consultation phase's assessment, process design, facilitation, and monitoring activities have been established through a set of specific Guidelines for comprehensively managing cases before MICI.The Senior Research Associate will have the overall objective of supporting MICI´s Phase Coordinator and Specialists in day-to-day case management and gathering information that will allow the identification of relevant topics to be analyzed and discussed, supporting the Mechanism of Institutional Learning role. Likewise, this position will help the Consultation Phase identify and engage with key relevant stakeholders for MICI’s mission in Latin America and the Caribbean.What you’ll do:
Support the Consultation Phase in researching, gathering documentation and information, documenting analysis and findings for active cases, and engaging with relevant stakeholders as needed per the Phase's work.Contribute to the development and implementation of MICI’s institutional learning strategy.Assist at the different stages of the Consultation Phase process, including the assessment stage, as needed and assigned by the Coordinator and the Specialists.Facilitate and support efforts to promote knowledge sharing and learning across MICI and the IDB Group.Assist in preparing learning materials and conducting training sessions as needed.Contribute to developing MICI's stakeholder mapping and implementing strategies to enhance their engagement.Any other related activities deemed necessary by the Director and/or the Phase Coordinator.Minimum Requirements:
Education:
Master’s degree in public policy, business administration, project management, political science, or related fields. Training in mediation and dispute resolution is desirable.Experience:
Demonstrated three (3) years of work experience in peace and conflict studies and/or peacebuilding, with experience in participatory development and country or region-specific familiarity.Languages:
Proficiency in English and Spanish, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and/or Portuguese is desirable.Citizenship:
