AWS Architect
to join our team in Bethesda, Maryland (US-MD), United States (US). The Cloud Architect (AWS) will be responsible for architecting secure, compliant cloud environments using Amazon Web Services (AWS) for a federal agency. This role involves ensuring all solutions adhere to stringent federal standards, including NIST 800-53 and FedRAMP, and supporting mission-critical workloads. Responsibilities:
Design and architect AWS cloud environments tailored to federal requirements, focusing on scalability, security, and compliance. Assist federal clients in developing cloud adoption roadmaps that align with federal mandates and cloud-first strategies. Ensure that all AWS solutions comply with federal security frameworks such as FedRAMP, FISMA, and NIST 800-53. Creating scalable, secure, and reliable cloud architectures using AWS services and integrating with NIH related systems and networks. Developing architectural blueprints and detailed documentation, including network topology diagrams, deployment view diagram, etc. Drafting and reviewing architectural designs to ensure they meet business requirements. Writing and reviewing code for cloud infrastructure and automation scripts. Participating in meetings with stakeholders to discuss project requirements and progress. Leading the migration of on-premises applications and data to the AWS cloud, including related assessment, migration, integration, verification and ATO required compliance. Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for cloud architectures and processes. Conducting training sessions for customers on cloud technologies and best practices. Implementing cloud solutions using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation. Automating deployment processes with managed CI/CD pipelines. Ensure minimal downtime and data integrity during migrations. Implement and maintain security best practices and compliance standards. Conduct regular security assessments and audits. Monitor cloud performance and optimize for cost, performance, and scalability. Implement monitoring and logging solutions to track system health. Work closely with NIH related teams to integrate cloud solutions. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members. Stay updated with the latest AWS services and industry trends. Propose and implement innovative solutions to improve cloud services, including AI Operation and cost optimization. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cloud infrastructure and services. Required Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or a related field. 7 years of experience working with Federal IT cloud environments and familiarity with FedRAMP or FISMA frameworks. 7 years of experience in AWS GovCloud (US) and understanding of federal government security protocols, including NIST, FISMA, and FedRAMP. 7 years of in-depth knowledge of AWS services in IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, such as EC2, AWS networks, RDS, Lambda, working in similar roles. Required certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional). Must have one of the following certifications: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP); Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP); Professional certification required: Project Management Professional (PMP), ITIL v4 Foundations. Must be a US citizen or Green Card holder. Must reside in the Washington, DC area.
