What you will be doing:

Further development and optimization of our robot assembly welding processes to achieve the safety, quality, and cost goals of the organization. Efficiently program OTC robots to reduce hand welding costs with a greater level of consistency. Help in expanding the robot welding program for additional parts including set-up reduction, quality control, training other operators, and product expansion. Help perform capability studies on work methods, or other aspects of the process to identify problems, improve efficiency and utilization of resources.

Responsibilities:

Programming / Operating the Robot:

Use OTC / Fanuc robot welding equipment to apply consistent welds to products efficiently while meeting quality standards for individual product lines.

Interpreting Technical Requirements:

Ability to read drawings, sketches, schedules and weld specification requirements.

Setting Up Equipment:

Performing set-ups on the robots including fixture attachment, program adjustment, work area material flow with assistance of process engineering.

Pre-Assemble First Production Part:

Ensure the program is producing a consistent part which meets all specifications of the product being made.

Inspecting Work:

Inspect parts as defined by the Quality Team. Ensure we are following all processes as necessary to produce acceptable products consistently with minimal scrap. Follow all necessary steps to align with ISO 9001:2015 standards and company QMS objectives.

Troubleshoot Program issues:

Ability to assess programs that are producing nonconforming results and make adjustments necessary to correct the root cause.

Expand Robot Welding Program:

Assess various products and expand the number of parts that can be consistently welded on the robots.

Reduce Robot Downtime:

Work closely with Maintenance and production teams to coordinate equipment maintenance and repair services and ensure that manufacturer’s procedures and instructions are followed to keep production equipment operating optimally.

Train Operators:

Assist with conducting training on quality control, reliability, and Continuous Improvement initiatives as they relate to robotic welding.

Fixture Improvement:

Assist in the development of new, and improvement of existing production fixtures to implement Poka-yoke solutions.

Participate in employee engagement initiatives.

Requirements:

Certificate of completion from a welding class or equivalent experience to demonstrate ability to weld various metals including stainless steel and mild steel.

3-5 years experience or equivalent robot training on Fanuc and/or OTC robotic welders.

Experience working with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems Requirements is a plus.

Able to read and understand mechanical drawings using ASME Y14.5.

Bending, Fabrication Assemble, Welding and Automated Processes experience is a plus.

Proficient in MS Office, PowerPoint, Excel.

Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
