For more information, visitTricon Residential.Job DescriptionThe Legal & Compliance Department is seeking a motivated, experienced legal counsel to support a wide range of real estate and commercial contracting matters. We are one of the largest owner-operators of single-family and multi-family rental homes and growing fast. We are looking for a service-oriented professional who will share our purpose to imagine a world where housing unlocks life's potential.
Reports directly to Vice President, Counsel and works collaboratively with many constituents across this industry-leading organization.
Advise on and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including major supplier, service provider, IT, tech, and ancillary revenue agreementsAdvise on and manage real estate disputes, eminent domain proceedings, easements, access agreements and related matters with assistance of outside counsel as neededAssist in the oversight of the Company's compliance programs (e.g., joint venture, lender, and privacy)Assist with due diligence review relating to large scale transactionsProvide legal advice on the full range of real estate, property management, asset management, ancillary revenue projects and transactionsSupport the VP, Counsel as needed on portfolio financing, securitization and other major transactionsHelp maintain effective contract lifecycle management and transaction management programsAssist with negotiation and management of the Company's office lease portfolioAssist in developing and maintaining policies and procedures related to these areas of responsibilityMonitor legal developments and legislative changes that may impact the business and corporate objectivesAssist as needed on strategic and department projects and programsQualifications:Experience and knowledge of real estate transactions, financings, and real estate development and/or property managementExperience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and transaction documentsCredibility and presence to interact with and present to senior team members and senior executives internally and externallySuperior problem-solving skills and legal judgment, highest ethical standards, independent judgment and a desire to take initiativeA team player who works well in a friendly, dynamic, fast-paced and hands-on operating environment with a passion for learning the businessStrong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously with a high level of attention to detail and accuracyAdaptability and flexibility with a pragmatic and business-focused approach to legal issueMinimum Requirements:Attorney with 5+ years' experience with a major law firm and/or reputable in-house legal environmentExperience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and transaction documentsExperience with real estate debt and/or equity transactionsExperience working with contract lifecycle management and use of AI in generation, negotiation and analysis of contracts is preferredOffice lease experience is preferredFamiliarity with data privacy laws is preferredExperience with single-family or multifamily residential assets preferredCredibility and presence to interact with and present at senior executive levels internally and externallySuperior problem-solving skills and legal judgment, highest ethical standards, and a desire to take initiativeA team player who works well in a dynamic and hands-on operating environmentStrong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously with a high level of attention to detail and accuracyAdaptability and flexibility with a pragmatic approach to legal issues#LI-HybridAt Tricon, we are committed to creating a workplace where every individual is valued for their unique contributions, experiences, voices, and backgrounds.
