Boys Hope Girls Hope’s mission is to nurture and guide motivated young people in need to become well-educated, career-ready men and women for others. Founded in 1977 in St. Louis, Missouri, Boys Hope Girls Hope supports over 1,200 young people in 12 US cities, Guatemala, and Mexico.Boys Hope Girls Hope of Cincinnati is a proud member of the Boys Hope Girls Hope Network. Approximately 1 week per yearThe Executive Director reports to the local Board of Directors and provides overall leadership for the affiliate of Boys Hope Girls Hope. The Executive Director carries primary responsibility for the leadership and mission execution of the organization, with particular emphasis on strategy, fundraising, board relations, and administration.The Executive Director establishes the culturally competent and strengths-based culture of the organization in alignment with the mission, DNA, and values of Boys Hope Girls Hope and ensures fidelity to the policies, procedures, and conditions detailed in the BHGH Affiliation Agreement, Program Model, and Policy Manual.Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Executive Director can be grouped into five broad categories:Strategic Leadership and GovernanceResource DevelopmentProgram OversightPublic RelationsStewardship and Administration1) Strategic Leadership and Governance
In collaboration with the Board and in line with the strategy and priorities of the BHGH Network, develop, implement, and monitor progress of the affiliate strategic and annual operational plans.Provide the Board with all materials and information necessary to carry out their governance, planning, and fundraising responsibilities.Facilitate regular and effective Board and Board Committee meetings.Support the Board and Nominating Committee in their responsibility to recruit and orient new Board members.With the Board Chair, ensure that each Board Member understands their role and specific goals.Drive the performance management and continuous quality improvement process of the affiliate.2) Resource Development
Serve as the lead fundraiser for the organization through relationship development with current donors and identification of new funding sources.Work with the Board of Directors and Development Committee to develop and implement an income plan for operational, capital, and endowment funds.Initiate, lead, organize, support, and evaluate all fundraising efforts.3) Program Oversight
Ensure that the Program Director position is staffed and supported for high performance.Supervise the Program Director to ensure that the program is implemented with fidelity to Boys Hope Girls Hope standards.4) Public Relations
Serve as the official face and voice of the organization.Promote a consistent public image of the organization.Work with the team and board to ensure fundraising goals are met through appropriate media channels.5) Stewardship and Administration
Direct all office and administrative functions of the affiliate.Ensure that all functions are adequately staffed through effective recruitment and retention efforts.Responsible for the proper stewardship of organizational resources.Formulate the annual budget for approval by the Board of Directors.Monitor and report income, expenses, and financial position to the Board.Working Conditions
This is an executive position requiring supervision of staff, excellent communication, planning and organization, independent decision making, and attendance at meetings. Periodic travel within the United States and regular travel in the city will be required.Qualifications
The position requires strong leadership, with a proven ability to raise financial support, communicate effectively, manage staff and volunteers, and coordinate multiple responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have experience in development and board relations, familiarity with youth programs, knowledge of the local charitable community, and a track record of effective management.Minimum 5 years of nonprofit leadership, fundraising, board development, and management experience. BA in Administration, Management, or related field required, MA preferred. State licensing requirements may call for additional qualifications.Candidate must pass criminal, child abuse, credit, and MVR background checks and drug screening.Benefits & Applying
