A subsidiary of MassMutual, Barings maintains a strong global presence with business and investment professionals located across North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific.Job SummaryBarings Client Portfolio Managers work in close partnership and coordination with investment teams and sales as well as other stakeholders within the organization as subject matter experts, focusing on business development, client servicing and product development for certain investment strategies.The successful candidate will lead Barings’ North America Private Credit Client Portfolio Management team, supporting all Barings private credit strategies (global private finance, capital solutions, infra debt, portfolio finance, structured finance and private placements), with a primary focus on global private finance/direct lending. The role will report to the Head of Client Portfolio Management – Public Fixed Income & Private Credit. This position will be located in Charlotte however other hub locations such as New York may also be considered.Primary ResponsibilitiesServe as the primary business development liaison in North America for Barings Global Private Finance strategies in particular, and Barings’ private credit strategies more broadly.Communicate investment strategies internally and externally with the goal of growing assets under management.Develop a close partnership with investment teams in order to deepen knowledge and expertise and be effective as a portfolio manager proxy in interactions with sales colleagues and clients. This will include:Attending investment team meetings.Serving as an active participant in meetings with current and prospective clients.Responding in a timely manner to client and prospect requests.Helping to determine and negotiate key terms for relevant funds/investment vehicles managed by Barings.Help to lead and develop more junior members of the Client Portfolio Management team.Identify, participate in and coordinate new product development and positioning initiatives for private credit.Create Thought Leadership materials in cooperation with investment teams and Barings Marketing staff.QualificationsUniversity degree.12-15+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in either an investment management or investment specialist/product strategist/client portfolio manager role with some experience in private credit.A passion for financial markets and proficiency in fixed income specifically with a high level of technical acumen/ability.Excellent oral and written communication skills including an ability to assess and convey market dynamics, portfolio strategy and risk factors.An aptitude for public speaking in a variety of settings and audience sizes.An entrepreneurial drive and desire to be a team player.Strong organizational, facilitation and collaboration skills.Willingness to travel.Barings is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer; Minority/Female/Age/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity/Individual with Disability/Protected Veteran.
