Job Description
Required Qualifications:
Associate Degree of Nursing. Be an Allied Health Professional (including but not limited to registered nurses, pharmacists, dieticians, social workers, nursing home administrators, physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech language pathologist), licensed and in good standing. Have a minimum of two (2) years of experience in associated field.
Current New Mexico License, or a compact state license, or eligibility to obtain a New Mexico license to practice as an Allied Health Professional.
Maintaining licensure as necessary during employment is required.
Have one (1) year LTC setting experience and must have experience teaching adults or training nurse aides.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers
Successful experience in teaching at the college level or providing student clinical instruction is preferred.
Experience working with ethnically diverse and rural student populations; to include working with underprepared students. Demonstrates an appreciation for and understanding of the unique needs of the student in both academic and vocational disciplines in the health and medical field.

Position Summary:
Southeast New Mexico College is seeking applications for an Adjunct, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). The accepted job candidate will teach courses in the discipline of CNA. Adjunct faculty members are responsible for delivering curriculum, providing instruction, and performing student-learning assessments. Teaches assigned courses as scheduled.
Essential Job Functions/Duties:
Delivers classroom instruction that supports the learning outcomes of the CNA courses.
Must be willing to teach weekends and evenings as assigned.
Evaluates student performance and instructional methods using the college’s established system of assessment.
Holds regular office hours in accordance with the policies established in the Faculty Manual.
Designs curriculum embracing diversity in all forms to foster talent in students while modeling inclusive teaching strategies with an understanding of the sociocultural issues of traditionally underrepresented groups.
Creates a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages active and collaborative learning, student effort, academic challenge, student and faculty interaction, and support for learners. Uses technology to assist in communication with students. Encourages a sense of community among students for learning both inside and outside the classroom.
Refers students to appropriate student and academic support services available at the College or in the community.
Fosters and maintains a safe environment of respect and inclusion for faculty, staff, students, and members of the community. Plans, designs, and provides clinical and/or laboratory instruction which reflect an understanding of the program’s objectives and curriculum. Evaluates student achievement of curricular and course objectives and learning outcomes related to Surgical Technology knowledge and practice.
