What you'll do
As the Senior Product Design Engineer for Utilimaster (A Shyft Brand) based at our facility in Landisville, PA,
you will be at the forefront of driving the design, development, and validation of vehicle design features for our Utilimaster division. Your role will be critical for improving the quality and durability of Utilimaster vehicles.
You will also be accountable for driving new product improvement and new development projects, maintaining legacy products, and overseeing the conceptual design of new components and sub-systems, staying within the limits of our manufacturing equipment and assembly capabilities.
You will also:Drive new product improvement and development projects and maintain legacy productsOversee the conceptual design of new components and sub-systemsDesign engineering solutions that are accurate, timely, and cost-effectiveEnsure your design solutions meet customer expectations, perform over the warranty period, and comply with regulatory requirementsExamine new designs using CAD layouts, stack-ups, and analytical tools to solve engineering problemsGenerate DFMEAs for components and sub-assemblies and design validation plans and reportsEmploy Lean and Six Sigma techniques to achieve simplification and commonizationCarry out test plans to fully validate components and systemsDraft and communicate engineering reports for the validation processPrepare presentations and communicate plans and results to suppliers and customersMaintain quality standards and follow proper inspection proceduresApply problem-solving techniques and methodologies to manufacturing and assembly problemsEvaluate engineering solutions and develop an understanding of unintended consequencesLaunch revisions to drawings, solid models, and bills of materialUtilize Aurora software to research specifications, structure, and parts compatibility

RequirementsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering disciplineFour or more (4+) years of product design engineering solutions expertiseA reputation for solving problems analyticallyAwareness of cost drivers related to a range of materials, design features, and manufacturing processesWorking knowledge of SolidWorks 3D CADVersed in reviewing and modifying assemblies, models, and detail drawingsExpertise in engineering statics, dynamics, structural mechanics, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamicsProficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and OutlookA track record of prioritizing effectively and executing multiple concurrent assignmentsProficient with program management and time management tools
