Provide a safe and secure learning and working environment for all students, staff and visitors of Boulder Valley School District. Principal advisor for all matters related to safety and security, asset protection, and emergency preparedness. Collaborate with public safety agencies which serve the district to ensure continuity of emergency planning.

Responsibilities:

Manages district-wide security operations and assists school administrators with ensuring school security operations to provide a safe and secure learning environment. Supports BVSD Human Resources investigating criminal matters or Board Policies involving personnel as they relate to violations of state, federal, local laws or Superintendent Policies.Develops, delivers, and manages training programs on security issues for school administrators, security department personnel, students, staff, and community.Develop and implement on-going, coordinated, professional and comprehensive training and development program for the campus security monitors as well as development, implement and monitor standard operating procedures. Makes recommendations for operational improvements to Director of Safety, Security & Emergency Services.Develop, implement, and oversee effective operations of district wide call center through evaluation of customer feedback, and frequent review of internal processes. Makes recommendations for operational improvements to Director of Safety, Security & Emergency Services.Respond to schools 24/7 for emergency response and crisis management; investigate crimes against students, staff, and district facilities.Ensures the enforcement of local, state, and federal laws and regulations pertaining to K-12 school security operations. Represents district security in local, state, and federal law enforcement and public safety meetings when applicable. District liaison to law enforcement.Evaluates and recommends budgets for Security and Call Center operations and/or Campus Monitors to ensure efficient and effective operations.Consults with Construction, Facility, and Design on the installation of new and upgrades of existing security systems.Manage District Level threat assessments and the process. Evaluates and monitors school level threat screens, threat assessments and High Level Risk Reviews.Manage and develop the School Safety Advocate program. Including all required on-going training, supervision, and legal certifications and licenses.Manage, develop and train the District Reunification program to include all personnel, equipment and vehicles.Review and evaluate the documentation of all school and District Emergency Operations plans annually.Monitor, review and ensure legal compliance with the Safe2Tell notification program. Assist school and district administrators in investigating tips regarding students and staff.Security representative for the Ed Center Safety Team to include standard operating procedures, drills, plans, and training for staff.Coordinates the hiring process for temporary and full-time employees following district procedures. Assures evaluation of Safety and Security personnel in accordance with the negotiated agreements and evaluation cycles for classified personnel and professional technical staff.Assist in developing policies and procedures to provide appropriate responses to emergencies that affect the safety staff and students, the operation of schools or district buildings to ensure a safe environment for all persons on district property.On call and available for consultation with school and District Administrators 24/7.Investigate issues that impact the safety and security of BVSD's students, staff or buildings. Prepare reports and provide recommendations and/or solutions.Responsible for Safety and Security coordination at all major activities to include graduations, proms, and sporting events.Liaison with the District Student Accountability Committee to develop partnership to ensure students have a voice in Safety and Security across the district.Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications :

Required:

Four years of college or equivalent advanced training to qualify for a Bachelor's Degree with a major pertinent to the position requirements.Minimum of three years experience in: Law Enforcement or School Security & supervision of employees.Must have a valid driver's license.Knowledge of Patrol Operations Methodology and Practices.Completed and submitted BVSD on-line application.Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English.Preferred:

Knowledge of law enforcement activities including patrol, investigation and tactical operations.Working knowledge of Colorado juvenile code and criminal statutes.Proficient computer skills including Google suite, Microsoft Office and general software.Knowledge of security equipment including access control, CCTV, intrusion, fire systems.Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws regarding the provision of security services and its application; interpretation and enforcement of administrative policies; and local, state and federal law.Salary Information:

Salary Range 7*: $88,429.00 - $132,645.00

Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.

*Pay range listed above is for employees newly hired to BVSD or current BVSD employees that are new to the employee group (existing employees currently in this unit please refer to the pay range on the appropriate salary schedule). BVSD engages in a salary placement process vs. a salary negotiation process.
