Summary:

The Patient Access Coordinator will provide specialized support in the areas of insurance, billing and cash collection. This individual will also support the Patient Access Department with solving problems and answering questions, monitoring and tracking daily the cash flow for all PPMC cash transactions and ensuring the reconciliation of those transactions at the close of business each day. The Patient Access Coordinator will develop daily, weekly and monthly reports related to scheduling appointments, and authorization and recertification of insurance for all patients. The incumbent will perform many general office duties to assist the staff and operational flow, which includes proactively collaborating with the Director, Managers, Administrative and various practice leaders for PPMC on an ongoing basis. Internal partnerships include Case Management, Contract Management, Patient Accounting, ADT Schedgistration and Data Analytics/Quality Assurance teams to evaluate and implement various performance improvement opportunities and ensure these activities are completed within established timeframes and budget. Individual will also evaluate improvement opportunities using internal resources to improve registration and patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for proactively communicating with the Director and providing the status of operations and, anticipating and addressing any potential issues that may arise.

Assist with identifying and solving problems to establish effective working relationships with colleagues, patients, and customers, and proactively determining underlying or hidden problems that may result in potential issues.

Collaborate with the Managers and Director to ensure operational needs are met, as well as, ensuring productivity guidelines are followed.

Provide back-up relief to the Hospital Cashier Office and process patient payments as needed.

Monitor reporting for assigned Patient Access work queues, including Candidate for Billing, Account, Claim and Patient Work Queues.

Support departmental customer service and performance improvement goals by collaborating with staff internally and outside Patient Access areas, to develop a means of enhancing patient experience and workflow throughput.

Maintain standards of confidentiality.

Participate in regulatory and compliance established standards.

Maintains Insurance Grids, Master Payor Plan List and Insurance Verification data.

Disseminate insurance and registration information throughout the Patient Access Department to include training and development sessions with staff.

Data entry into proprietary database and hospital data systems (patient registration) as directed.

Audit data entry and generate reports as directed.

Maintain office equipment and office supplies, (order as appropriate).

Comply with all HIPAA and TJC regulatory requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

1+ years of EPIC experience required

H.S. Diploma/GED required

And 5+ years' experience in a healthcare or Patient Access environment; preferably prior experience in a management or leadership role.

Or Bachelor of Arts or Science preferred

And 3+ years' experience in a healthcare or Patient Access environment; preferably prior experience in a management or leadership role.
