This role is part of the Office of the CIDO (Chief Information Digital Officer)-reporting up to the VP, IT Strategy and Architecture. This role is the chief enterprise architect for US Foods IT-a future focused thought leader, who consistently keeps a pulse on emerging market disruptions and identifies gaps in IT's landscape. This role advises IT leadership on evolving IT strategy, the enterprise architecture roadmap, and technology investment decisions.
This role owns the definition and continuous improvement of enterprise architecture strategy, guiding principles, and portfolio of services across architecture domains. As a part of this, the role designs the target technology vision-building a holistic view and roadmap of the Company's enterprise technology strategy, processes, and information technology roadmap. Ultimately, this role helps IT leadership understand, monetize, and operationalize existing, new, and emerging technologies. Oversees and improves the architecture governance model (i.e., standards, policies, and procedures), and leads integration with related business and IT processes.
This role facilitates alignment between business and IT stakeholders through strategically partnering with both business and technology stakeholders (internal and external) and ensuring that the technology, services, and business solutions align with US Foods' overall objectives.
Additionally, this role is responsible for leading and managing the Enterprise Architecture (EA) Function- managing a team of domain enterprise architects in a direct capacity.
Flexible Work Policy: The work for the Principal Enterprise Architect position is completely 100% remote anywhere in the United States except Hawaii or United States Territories. This position may have the potential to travel up to 20% dependent on business needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Enterprise Architecture (EA) Function Management:
Develops and drives the evolution and maturation of EA strategy, services, and operating modelManages the EA Function; recruits and develops the critical skills, competencies, and career paths for the EA team members, and coaches and mentors Enterprise ArchitectsDrives collaboration across all Enterprise Architects; ensures the EA Function works closely with extended team members across the organizationIdentifies organizational requirements for the resources, structures, and cultural changes necessary to support the EA Function
Enterprise Architecture Strategy:
Understands the business's economic and financial levers and regularly keeps up with major disruptive technology and non-technology trends; identifies gaps in the IT strategyAdvises business and IT leadership on IT investments and strategies in alignment with business outcomesOwns and communicates the strategy and value of enterprise architecture and its portfolio of services to IT and the businessDevelops and manages critical strategic partnerships with business and external partners (e.g., vendors); drive collaboration for vendor management across domainsFor large or cross-value stream products, leads and facilitates interactions with business leaders, product managers, and product owners regarding risks and implications of relevant product decisions to the greater enterprise
Enterprise Digital Modernization:Provides vision, expertise, and guidance to the enterprise-wide planning process on technology investments and how to take advantage of emerging opportunities and risksPresents gap analyses of the IT landscape and/or IT investment roadmaps to detect critical enterprise-level architecture deficiencies. Advises IT leaders on how to incorporate gaps and/or risks into value stream roadmap and planning (i.e., architectural runway)Defines IT's target technology vision in alignment with the overall IT vision, supporting the information needs of the business; leads development of an implementation roadmap for the enterprise architecture in alignment with IT's strategy for product and project-driven deliveryCommunicates "big picture" to Business and IT stakeholders to achieve alignment with target state enterprise architecture and roadmap by domain or value-streamEnterprise Governance:
Drives continuous improvement of the architecture governance model - develops and maintains policies, standards, and guidelines to ensure that a consistent framework is applied across ITLeads Enterprise Architects to drive adherence to architectural standards and use of industry and enterprise technology standards across the organization
Program & Project Delivery:
For highest priority, enterprise-wide delivery, and architecture issues, drives problem solvingAligns EA services to the ITPGA and IT Finance Strategy and product and project lifecycle planning to ensure consistency with the enterprise architecture
Architecture Practitioner Network (APN):
Establishes and oversees an architecture practitioner network; oversees sharing of architecture best practices, governance, and collaboration throughout the architecture community and ITDefines and governs the Enterprise RACI for Enterprise Architects, Enterprise Data Architect, Enterprise Security Architect, Enterprise Business Architects, Solution Architects, Business Architects, and others involved in the architecture practice across the IT function.Identifies critical/emerging Architecture skills, knowledge, and abilities; works with Enterprise Function and HR to oversee skills development of IT architectsProvides guidance to all architects on critical enterprise-wide or cross-value stream decisions (e.g., upgrade decisions, architectural decisions) and makes decisions that must be made above the level of all other IT architects

Regular interactions with technology partners and contract vendors will be required as a key part of this role. The ability to create statements of work, negotiate rates, and working with technology vendors for technical issues will be a heavy requirement for this role.

In Colorado, the expected compensation for this role is between $132,600 and $176,900. In New York, the expected compensation for this role is between $157,800 and $210,400. In California, the expected compensation for this role is between $149,900 and $199,900. In Washington, the expected compensation for this role is between $149,900 and $199,900. This role is also eligible for annual incentive plan bonus.
