DeafLEAD is a non-profit organization that provides crisis intervention services to Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Late-Deafened, DeafBlind, DeafDisabled, and Deaf+ individuals and their families within the state of Missouri and nationwide.
Our mission is to promote the emotional and physical well-being of consumers in a safe and respectful environment utilizing a consumer-centered, trauma-informed approach.We are committed to providing a variety of services to effectively meet the changing needs within the Deaf community. These services include (but are not limited to): crisis intervention, safety planning, legal/medical/personal advocacy, case management, crisis videophone/text/chat/hotline services, mental health services, training, and interpreting.DeafLEAD is seeking an experienced and compassionate HR Manager to oversee and support all aspects of human resources for our team. The HR Manager will play a vital role in shaping a positive organizational culture, ensuring HR compliance, and supporting the needs of employees. This role is essential in assisting with managing recruitment, benefits administration, employee relations, and supporting professional development in alignment with DeafLEAD’s mission and values.Key Responsibilities
1.
Organizational Development and Culture·
Champion DeafLEAD’s values, promoting a workplace culture of respect, integrity, and inclusivity, especially as it relates to Deaf culture and accessibility.·
Organize employee engagement initiatives and promote workplace wellness.·
Support diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) initiatives and foster an environment that respects both Deaf and hearing employees and clients.2.
Employee Relations and Performance Management·
Act as a resource for employees and supervisors on HR-related matters, fostering a positive, inclusive work environment in consultation withDeafLEAD's PEO partner.·
Address employee concerns and grievances professionally, collaborating with DeafLEAD's PEO partner to investigate and resolve issues in compliance with employment laws and DeafLEAD policies.·
Support performance management processes, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and facilitating improvement plans as necessary, in collaboration with DeafLEAD's PEO partner to ensure adherence to best practices and legal requirements.3.
Compliance and Policy Development·
Ensure DeafLEAD’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and nonprofit HR best practices.·
Collaborate with appropriate personnel and DeafLEAD's PEO partner to regularly review and update HR policies, employee handbooks, service line policy manuals, and procedures to reflect current laws and organizational needs.4.
Training and Development·
Identify and coordinate training opportunities for staff to enhance skills, including ASL and cultural competency training for hearing staff.·
Support professional growth by promoting development programs and evaluating training effectiveness.·
Work with managers to develop staff succession plans and advancement paths.5.
Benefits Administration·
Collaborate with DeafLEAD's brokers and PEO partner in administering employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, retirement, and other benefits, ensuring accessibility and understanding for all employees.·
Serve as the primary contact within DeafLEAD for employee benefits-related questions and issues, advocating for employees when appropriate.6.
Recruitment and Staffing·
Assist with managing the full-cycle recruitment process, including posting job openings, screening candidates, conducting interviews, and making recommendations for hiring.·
Develop and implement strategies to attract diverse, qualified candidates, particularly those with knowledge of Deaf culture and ASL skills.·
Assist with onboarding new employees, ensuring they understand organizational policies, mission, and values.·

Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.·
HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) preferred.·
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of HR experience, with preference for experience in nonprofit organizations.·
Knowledge of Deaf culture, fluency in ASL, or willingness to learn is strongly preferred.·
Strong understanding of employment laws, compliance, and HR best practices.·
Experience with recruitment, performance management, employee relations, and benefits administration.·
Exceptional written communication skills·
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce.·

High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion in handling sensitive information.·
Completion of DeafLEAD’s new hire and crisis intervention training·
