Position Title Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing - DNP Nurse Anesthesia Program

Job Description

Innovative teaching methodologies, cutting-edge technologies, and other industry trends reflecting advancements in the discipline. This is a 12-month Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor, non-tenure track position. Academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The academic role is within the School of Nursing in the Oxley College of Health and Natural Sciences. This individual will report directly to the Director of the Nurse Anesthesia Program with indirect reporting to the Executive Director of the School of Nursing and the Dean of the Oxley College of Health and Natural Sciences.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES : Teaches an average of 8 credit hours per semester; approximately 70% to teaching, counseling, and evaluating students; 20% to clinical competency; 5% to faculty scholarly activities; and 5% to service Promotes an interdisciplinary approach to advanced practice nursing education and healthcare delivery within and outside The University of Tulsa. Serves on University, Oxley College of Health and Natural Sciences, and departmental committees to which appointed or elected. Implements the graduate nursing program course of study following institutional learning outcomes and COA accreditation standards. Serves on DNP project teams and guides NA students with scholarly DNP projects. Fosters an environment of inquiry and scholarship, translating knowledge into practice and using evidence-based care. Participates in the annual admission and evaluation processes for the NA program. Monitors, guides, counsels, and advises students in their progression through the program. Serves as a member of the DNP Council

Required Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Doctoral degree in nursing, nurse anesthesia, or related degree (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D.) from an institution of higher education that was accredited by an agency officially recognized by the US Secretary of Education to accredit institutions at the time the degree was conferred Graduate of an accredited graduate program for Nurse Anesthesia Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; a minimum of two years' experience in the clinical setting as a CRNA Current unencumbered license to practice as an APRN-CRNA in Oklahoma compliant with state law Current certification or recertification by the NBCRNA Effective interpersonal and leadership skills The ability to work effectively with students, faculty, healthcare professionals, patients, and other members of the healthcare team A commitment to excellence in teaching/learning in a graduate level program, consistent with the program mission, vision, and goals An enthusiasm for contributing to the university community. In addition, faculty who teach clinical anesthesia content must possess current clinical content knowledge as defined by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs.

Preferred Qualifications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : Current knowledge of institutional and programmatic accreditation requirements for nurse anesthesia educational programs. Two years' experience in didactic teaching activities, with additional clinical teaching experience Experience in higher education, including accreditation, program review/assessment, and formal instruction in curriculum and evaluation.
