Job Description

The nursing program at Texas A&M University-Texarkana awards Bachelor of Science degrees (ADN-BSN & Traditional BSN) and Master of Science degrees in Nursing Administration, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and Family Nurse Practitioner. The programs are offered face-to-face (Traditional BSN), online (ADN-BSN), and online/hybrid (MSN) and are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The nursing programs are part of the College of Nursing, Health, and Human Services (CNHHS) and will be pursuing an aggressive program growth agenda over the next five (5) years which includes the addition of a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. The appointment will be for a 12-month full-time faculty member with administrative assignment.

Job Location: This will be a full-time face-to-face/hybrid position, and the selected candidate will be required to be on the Texas A&M University-Texarkana campus a minimum of once a month.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Develop the new Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. * Teach courses in the MSN & DNP programs in a variety of formats (online, hybrid, face-to-face). * Student advisement as assigned. * Active participant in program development, renewal, and revision. * Perform appropriate levels of service within the university, region, and/or with regional/national healthcare entities. * Work with the Nursing Division Chair to develop collaborative relationships with local and regional healthcare entities. * Able to seek and participate in independent and/or collaborative extramurally funded projects and research. * In accordance with Texas Board of Nursing, Rules and Regulations relating to Nurse Education, Licensure and Practice (2014), faculty shall be responsible for: * Supervising students in clinical and experiential learning experiences; * Supervising all initial nursing procedures performed by the student in the clinical area and ascertaining that the student is competent before allowing the student to perform an actual nursing procedure independently; * Developing, implementing, and evaluating curriculum; and * Participating in the development, implementation, and enforcement of standards/policies for admission, progression, probation, and dismissal of students, and participating in academic guidance and counseling.

Program Coordinator-Job Responsibilities

* Oversee the curricular content of the program/Assist with annual program/curriculum review/assessment/accreditation. * Assist the Division Chair with scheduling for the program. * Coordinate program adjunct faculty. * Assist with gathering program budget requests for the Division Chair. * Coordinate with the Advising team to ensure the 2-year program schedule is relayed to FTIC and transfer students; coordinate faculty advising with program colleagues. * Prepare faculty forms as needed to initiate catalog or course additions, changes, or deletions for the program. * Chair or serve on search committees for new program faculty. * As time and budgets permit, promote enrollment in programs on campus and in wider communities. * Maintain program memberships or affiliations with relevant professional associations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Minimum Qualifications

* Unencumbered RN license in the State of Texas or an unencumbered RN Compact license. * Doctor of Science in Nursing or equivalent * Terminal degree: Ph.D., DNP, Ed.D. * ABDs with confirmed doctoral dissertation defense dates will also be considered if the degree is conferred prior to the start date * Master of Science in Nursing or equivalent * Minimum of four (4) years of nursing practice experience * Meet established criteria for Assistant Professor Rank * Experience with CCNE accreditation. * Ability to be on campus for clinical, didactic, and student/program needs * Excellent interpersonal skill

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience using Canvas or similar LMS 9.1 * Five years' experience teaching in a classroom setting at the rank of assistant professor * Five years' experience in a clinical setting. * Current clinical practical experience * Experience teaching at the graduate level * A record of Professional Activities related to nursing or nursing education. * Evidence of research agenda, publication, and scholarship * Meet other established criteria for Associate Professor rank

* Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours. * Ability to maintain confidentiality.
