Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Position Summary
The University at Buffalo (UB) School of Nursing (SON) invites enthusiastic applicants who seek to lead the development of new pediatric nurse practitioner (PNP) programs with options for acute and/or primary care (AC/PC). Development efforts should be directed at creating an innovative curriculum leading to accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and certification of individuals as a PNP by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB). This is a full-time clinical faculty (12-month) appointment at the rank of Professor/Associate Professor.
Responsibilities include:
* Lead and develop new curricula for Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) accredited pediatric nurse practitioner programs leading to certification as a PNP (AC or PC) and facilitate the approval process though the School of Nursing (SON), University at Buffalo (UB), State University of New York (SUNY), New York State Education Department (NYSED), and CCNE. * Lead and design courses, establish course objectives, and prepare syllabi to implement DNP pediatric nurse practitioner programs to meet state and CCNE standards. * Lead, plan, develop, and implement evidence-based, innovative, and interactive learning experiences for the adult learner across classroom and clinical learning environments for post-masters DNP and BS to DNP pathways. * Lead and foster hiring of new pediatric nurse practitioner faculty. * Lead and maintain standards of clinical excellence/practice and adhere to ethical professional standards of pediatric nurse practitioner practice. * Lead and collaborate with faculty, other program directors, and community partners to plan, design, and implement classroom, laboratory/simulated, and community-based practice student learning experiences. * Establish collaborative and positive working relationships that respect the dignity, worth, and culture of students, faculty, staff, colleagues, peers, patients, families, communities, agency nurse managers, and interdisciplinary agency teams and staff to establish innovative pediatric nurse practitioner programs. * Serve as a mentor and professional role model to facilitate and ensure the planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning experiences. * Lead the development of curricula that assists students with the transfer, utilization, and synthesis of knowledge into current learning activities and experiences at the advanced practice level through establishment of physical and emotional environments conducive to effective teaching and learning. * Engage and serve as a representative to National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) and National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) as necessary. * Lead and establish standards of practice designed to address the highest ethics required for advanced pediatric nurse practitioner practice and early intervention/remediation through specific written guidance and referral for activities to facilitate academic success in students demonstrating unsafe advanced nursing practice and/or who lack clinical preparation. * Act to comply with national, state, university, clinical agency, and professional regulations/requirements to establish the pediatric nurse practitioner program.

Minimum Qualifications
* Doctoral degree (DNP/PhD) from a regionally accredited school of nursing and national certification as a PNP. * APRN License/license eligible with the state of New York. * Minimum of 3 years clinical experience as a PNP. * Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in a classroom and/or online environment. * Experience with clinical practicum, student supervision, and evaluation of student success.
Preferred Qualifications
* Previous administrative experience as a pediatric nurse practitioner program director or assistant program director. * Experience supervising students clinically using simulation to achieve program outcomes. * Experience recruiting and supervising faculty. * Experience preparing documentation leading to accreditation by CCNE. * Experience leading and fostering scholarship focused on improving pediatric nurse practitioner standards of care in a cultural context with faculty and students at a regional, national, and/or global level. * Experience creating inclusive student and faculty communities, establishing relationships with community partners, seeking new community partnerships, and envisioning new opportunities for student precepted experiences. * Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, across the spectrum of academic, clinical, and regulatory settings.
