First Class Ship Fitter

ATSS has a client in Mobile, AL looking for First Class Ship Fitters.
Ship Fitter (First Class)
Understand directions and follow instructions.
Accountable for completion of daily work assignments including the completion and signatures for work completions and quality.
Minimum 5-year First Class experience as a Ship Fitter.
Must be able to pass welding certification on ultrasonic test on
plate with backing strap in the 1G and 3G position with E7018.
Must pass SMAW vertical and over head fillet break test using 7018 electrodes
Proficient in burning, washing, edge prepping using hand and automated equipment.
Must be able to demonstrate the safe and effective use of craft related tools and equipment, i.e. Track burner, overhead crane, 50-ton jacks and large fairing tools.
Perform burning and fitting operations with limited supervision using standard ship fitting equipment to accomplish fabrication and ship repair duties.
Proficiently accomplish fabrication and repair assignments from verbal instructions, blue prints, sketches, diagrams and owner specifications with limited supervision.
Must be able to compute weights of plate.
Must be able to rig plates with equipment safely.
Knowledge of shipyard terminology such as general ship and vessel layout.
Knowledge of edge prep and weld joint design.
Must have operational knowledge of shipyard equipment used in day to day craft operation.
Monitors working environment for compliance with quality, safety, environmental and health regulations.
May be assigned to work any shift.
