Opportunity to grow this department and report to the President of the companyJob DetailsOverviewThe Director of Field Operations is responsible for leading and optimizing all aspects of field operations within the organization. This pivotal role manages the distinct teams of field operations, operations scheduling, and logistics, ensuring the seamless coordination and efficiency across departments. They collaborate closely with the Directors of Operations, Director of Safety, Director of Field Leadership Development and other key stakeholders to ensure safe efficient execution of projects, quality assurance, and project performance. This role also works closely with field personnel to provide mentorship and support their career growth.ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership and direction to the field operations, scheduling, and logistics teams, aligning their efforts with company objectives and core values.Manage field leadership hiring and oversee all field terminations, working closely with the Director of Field Leadership Development on hiring decisions.Supervise the manpower scheduling team and manage day-to-day job assignments.Oversee manpower forecasting for all open projects and collaborate closely with the Director of Operations on overall forecasting. Communicate regularly with the recruiting team regarding field-related hiring needs.Manage the logistics team’s scheduling and forecasting, ensuring that tool, material, and equipment processes are consistently followed across projects.Counsel and address all field-related HR issues, working closely with HR and Operations for resolution.Oversee all field leadership project assignments.Conduct career pathing discussions, manage advancements, and approve wage increases for the field team.Perform quarterly check-ins and annual performance reviews with direct reports.Ensure that project manpower ratios are consistent and forecasted within budget.Regularly oversee production labor tracking reports and address deficiencies with field leaders.Work closely with the Director of Field Leadership Development to ensure that field employees are progressing and are exposed to the job duties outlined in the SOP for leadership development training.Collaborate with field-related departments on policies and procedures. Assist with the implementation, training, and enforcement of field-related policies and procedures.Work closely with the Prefabrication Manager on policies and procedures, promoting prefabrication among field leadership.Collaborate with the QA/QC team on policies and procedures, enforcing and upholding these policies with field leaders.Support the organization by bridging communication and collaboration between office and field operations.Oversee and optimize field operations processes to enhance efficiency, productivity, and overall project performance.Collaborate with project management teams and all levels of field leadership to ensure that project execution and success remain the primary focus.Develop and implement best practices for project execution.Collaborate with the VP of Operations to set goals and objectives for the field operations department, monitoring progress and performance against key metrics.Foster effective communication and collaboration between field teams to ensure a clear understanding of project objectives and requirements.Drive continuous improvement initiatives within field operations, identifying opportunities for process optimization and innovation.Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure exceptional customer satisfaction.Contribute to the development and management of department budgets, resource allocation, and project cost control.Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and advancements, implementing best practices and innovative solutions where appropriate.Champion a culture of safety excellence, promoting a zero-incident mindset and ensuring adherence to safety regulations and standards.Champion a culture of quality excellence, promoting a no-rework, do-it-right-the-first-time mindset and ensuring adherence to quality regulations and standards.QualificationsMinimum of 15 years of progressive experience in electrical construction operations, with at least 10 years in a leadership or executive role.Strong understanding of electrical construction building processes, project management, and industry best practices.Proven track record of successful project logistics, execution, and manpower scheduling.Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make sound decisions in complex and dynamic environments.Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively convey information to diverse audiences.Strategic thinker with the ability to align field operations strategies with overall company goals.High level of integrity, ethics, and professionalism.Proficiency in construction software and technology tools for project management, logistics, scheduling, and communication.Interested in hearing more?
