Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Networks Engineer to join our team onsite in San Diego, California.
Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Providing network security support to Navy operational and training networks focused specifically on the Navy Enterprise Tactical Training Network (NETTN).
Ensuring uninterrupted network connectivity to customers and sites by planning and executing the installation of new capabilities, as well as operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting network connectivity and infrastructure on enterprise managed networks including support of multiple network enclaves across classification levels.
Support establishment and maintenance of various networks across the NCTE enterprise environment, including IP, LAN, WAN, and MPLS among others.
Running network protocols, network engineering techniques and architectures in support of Navy training and operational requirements.
Working directly with government and contractor personnel receiving engineering oversight form the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Corona Division.
Analyzing site survey reports to ensure accurate network engineering planning.
Support the procurement of network device hardware and software and oversee their installation and integration into the NCTE based on the approved network portfolio.
Set-up, configuration, and support of internal and external networks, to include proficiency with network performance monitoring tools.
Identifying and analyzing systems requirements.
Developing and maintaining system applications and security.
Developing and maintaining network configurations.
Troubleshooting network performance issues.
Providing user support and guidance.
Recommending and implementing upgrades, patches, new applications, and new equipment.
Developing and maintaining a disaster recovery plan.
Ensuring proper documentation, coordination, and maintenance of multiple systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related field and 5 years relevant experience OR High School diploma and 11 years experience
In tandem, at least three (3) years of experience with the responsibilities listed above
Experience with Department of Defense (DoD) Security Technical Implementation Guidelines
Experience in installing and troubleshooting WAN and LAN network equipment for node installations
Experience in implementing and integrating cross domain solutions at both the Secret and TS levels
Cybersecurity Workforce Framework (CSWF) requirements with current baseline and Computing Environment/Operating System (CE/OS) certifications
IAT-II level at a minimum in accordance with SECNAV M-5239.2 and DoD 8140/8570 (ex. CompTia Sec+)
Knowledge of network standards, protocols, security, and applications; capabilities and applications of network equipment including hubs, routers, switches, bridges, firewalls, servers, transmission media, and related hardware; network architecture and infrastructure; local area and wide area networking principles and concepts including bandwidth management; network systems design, development, testing, installation, operations, management, and maintenance concepts and methods
Knowledge of Cisco Internetworking capabilities including IP addressing, switching, and routing, and a thorough understanding of the Cisco IOS platform
Ability to effectively use and implement modern network security, tools, and technologies including firewalls, VRFs, 802.1x, and port security
Ability to lead a team in performance of end-to-end lifecycle planning, design, installation, maintenance, and support for distributed networks used by M&S and C4I applications, systems, and subsystems
Up to 25% travel required or as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
Seven or more (7+) years of relevant work experience as a network engineer within a U.S. Government environment, DoD strongly preferred
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related field
Active CCNA certification
Experience in a Network Operations Center (NOC) or Network Operations Security Center (NOSC) environment including help desk, customer communication, trouble ticketing, and issue resolution
Experience with network security architecture similar to the NETTN including Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), Cisco Secure Firewall Management Center, Cisco Firepower NGFW firewalls, AAA, 802.1x, VPN deployments, STIG implementation and verification, Command Cyber Readiness Inspections (CCRI)
Clearance Requirements:
Active Secret Security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain an Active Top Secret/ SCI security clearance
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer
The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
