Odyssey is recruiting for a System Architect / Modernization Engineer to join the team. The technical expert filling this position will be a trusted advisor and consultant to the government that supports government-led modification and capability upgrade efforts in support of the PARCS Product Division of the Space Systems Command Strategic Warning and Space Surveillance Directorate. Odyssey is in search of an experienced professional interested in joining a fast-paced, dynamic team supporting the United States Space Force with the integration of Missile Warning and Space Domain Awareness.
The PARCS division of the Space Systems Command LEO/MEO Sensing Directorate (SSC/SZBQ) at Peterson Space Force Base near Colorado Springs, CO supports the Perimeter Acquisition Radar Attack Characterization System (PARCS), a single-faced, ultra-high frequency (UHF)-Band, phased-array radar located at Cavalier Space Force Station, North Dakota. PARCS is a Missile Warning sensor that can provide attack characterization and assessment to determine the number and types of missiles entering its coverage area. PARCS is also a Collateral Space Sensor that supports the Space Surveillance Network by providing metric and space object identification data on earth satellite vehicles.
Responsibilities
The System Architect / Modernization Engineer shall provide technical expertise and System Engineering skills in support of the PARCS Modernization effort to digitize this critical national asset so that it continues to collect and provide relevant Missile Warning and Space Domain Awareness data. This individual shall perform work that applies a broad theoretical and practical knowledge of phased array radar functionality and system architecture
The Modernization System Architect shall represent the Government's interests by performing the following duties: Develop a SME-level understanding of PARCS by reviewing system documentation, including theory manuals, requirements specifications, design documents, user manuals, and drawings Provide system architecture vision and engineering support for long-range radar planning Perform work that meaningfully contributes to mature radar long-range road map and strategic plan Apply knowledge of phased array radar technology and operations to suggest improvements for modernization strategies Focus on PARCS system requirements at all levels and provide requirements analysis Review and analyze all types of technical documentation: Planning, requirements, design, V&V, support, test, source code, and configuration files Determine operational feasibility of Contractor solutions by evaluating problem definition, requirements, analysis, solution development, and proposed solutions Conduct technical reviews to evaluate alternative proposed plans, engineering efforts, designs, and test results to assure that proposed approaches are technically feasible, and that system performance is achieved in accordance with program specifications Conduct engineering impact analyses of system upgrades and design improvements Apply technical expertise to Analysis of Alternatives (AoAs) Use modeling and simulation to support modernization; perform gap analysis for improving the PARCS mission system Provide evaluations on aging hardware and make recommendations for new and modified subsystems and components Provide technical inputs and recommendations, including reviews, studies, audits, evaluations and analyses, scientific and procedural guidance, documentation, technical analysis, and support of associated engineer
