As an RN in this specialized unit, you will provide comprehensive care to patients undergoing a variety of complex surgical procedures. Your role is essential in ensuring that patients receive the highest level of care from pre-operative preparation through post-operative recovery.

Assess and prepare patients for surgery, including conducting thorough evaluations, explaining the surgical process, and addressing any concerns or questions patients may have. Assist the surgical team during procedures by ensuring that all equipment is prepared, monitoring patient vitals, and responding to any immediate needs or complications. Provide post-operative care, including pain management, wound care, and monitoring patients for signs of complications. Ensure a smooth transition from the operating room to recovery and beyond. Educate patients and their families on post-surgical care, including medication management, wound care, and signs of potential complications. Provide guidance on lifestyle adjustments needed for recovery. Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each patient's surgical needs. Continuously monitor patients' conditions, track their progress, and adjust care plans as necessary to promote recovery and prevent complications. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient care, including assessments, interventions, and outcomes, in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements. Act as an advocate for patients, ensuring their needs and preferences are respected and that they receive compassionate, patient-centered care throughout their surgical experience.
Candidate requirements
Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) is required. Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington. Minimum of 2 years of experience in surgical nursing, with experience in specialty surgeries preferred. BLS and ACLS certifications are required. National Provider NRP - American Academy of Pediatrics certification required upon hire. Proficiency in perioperative nursing, strong clinical assessment skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
