PROJECT ACCOUNTANT

JOB SUMMARY:
The Project Accountant ("PA") is an integral part of the Company's Accounting and Finance Department. The PA performs all aspects of Project Accounting from project setup, the billing process and maintenance; review and adjustment of time and expense charges; revenue recognition; billing; WIP analysis and reconciliation; collections/AR reconciliation; AP, purchase orders and project closeout to ensure proper reporting of a project's overall profitability
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Act as "gatekeeper" in setting up projects in the Deltek Vision system, in accordance with established procedures, and to optimize workflow, analytical insights, and administrative effort.Communicate effectively with PM regarding contract and contract modifications, approvals and any additional services related to revenue generation and billing.Assist in preparing the initial project schedule including the WBS structure for projects based on the scope of work, the contract overhead and profit, and billing requirements in the project setup.Implement management systems and processes related to project planning, execution, and closeout.Assist PMs with project financial tracking and controls in Deltek Vision financial management and forecasting tools.Maintain project contracts, supplemental agreements, task work orders, etc. within Vision software.Perform program-level analyses on project cost information and budget utilization. Develops trends for financial aspects of projects.Assist the Project Manager in preparing project recovery plans for projects that are not within the profit goal.Prepare a draft billing package each billing period for review by the PM. This includes gathering supporting documents, such as the client required monthly progress reports and MBE/WBE status reports.Work with PM on modifications to draft billing package, resulting in final billing package, and all related documents to submit to clients.Monitor A/R for projects and notify the project manager of the outstanding invoices.Assists with related special projects and other related duties as needed.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:Experience with Deltek Vision a plus.Experience working with an engineering or construction firm a plus.Possess strong organizational and time management skills.Acute attention to detail, professional attitude and reliable.Commitment to excellence and high standards.Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.Microsoft excel skills - intermediate preferredDemonstrated ability to calculate figures and amounts - accurately and timely.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's Degree in AccountingA Minimum of 2 years of experience in finance or project accountingStrong Knowledge of accounting procedures (Preferred)Experience in the Environmental Industry (Preferred)
