ABOUT Hermosa Hermosa, located approximately 75 miles south-east of Tucson, Arizona, is the only advanced mining project in the United States as of 2023 that could produce two federally designated critical minerals-manganese and zinc-as well as silver and lead. The project has the potential to help power the nation's clean energy future, strengthen the domestic supply chain of critical minerals, grow the local economy, and improve lives in Santa Cruz County and the surrounding community for generations to come. South32 provides you with 4 weeks paid time off. 12 weeks full-paid parental leave for primary careers and 2 weeks full-paid parental leave for secondary careers ABOUT THE ROLE The Contracts and Procurement Specialist provides support to the project team for the entire contract and procurement life cycle including pre-award and post award activities and leads procurement and contract management activities relevant to company projects maintaining cost control, supply chain processes, contract negotiations, and vendor performance. This role is a permanent position based in Tucson, Arizona. Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to: Development of contracting and procurement strategies aligned to project scope and timing. Execute pre-award contract and procurement activities including RFP preparation, and full tendering processes. Preform proposal's commercial evaluation, clarification & adjudication, contract development, negotiation, and recommendation for award. Participate in risk reviews including analysis and communication of potential risks that contract changes may pose to the project. Preform post award contract and procurement activities including order issuance, contractor system onboarding, pre-mobilization checklist. Directly management of contractor / supplier in all contract activities including, progress meetings, invoice validation, change management, performance reporting (KPI reporting, contract changes, claims management, etc.) and complete contract close out. Have an ability to gain credibility with vendors and persuade people to adhere to an agreed commercial strategic approach is critical. Ensure the company's code of business conduct, health, safety, and sustainability values are communicated and adhered to by our vendors and service providers. Responsible for developing, enforcing, and improving contracts and procurement processes. ABOUT YOU You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Accounting, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. Certifications such as Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified in Supply Management (CSM), or other recognized supply chain certifications considered an asset. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, Aconex, Contract Management/ERP systems Minimum of two (2) years of project, construction, or mining industry contracts & procurement experience Previous contract & procurement applications experience such as SAP, Ariba, CCMS, etc. Capital project experience/EPCM experience preferable Proven track record of developing and maintaining a safe work culture Ability to work under pressure, maintain composure, set priorities, and work with a project team Maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct Strong English language written and oral communication skills Effective communication with other departments and leadership Extensive experience within major projects contract law, or contract management Strong negotiation skills South32 is committed to building and maintaining an inclusive and diverse workforce that reflects the communities in which we operate.
