The Role: We're looking for an experienced Applications Engineer to work in our San Jose headquarters. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support and collateral to internal engineering and marketing teams as well as to customers, sales, and distribution for our industry-leading power products and solutions. They should have a deep working knowledge of power conversion architectures and tradeoffs and be able to develop reference solutions to accelerate customer adoption of our products. Relevant areas of experience include power conversion for solar, storage, servers, and consumer power bricks, as well as motor control for industrial and automotive applications. Signal-chain knowledge across a variety of applications areas from consumer to industrial to automotive is a plus. Responsibilities: Apply domain expertise to develop collateral (datasheets, app notes, white papers) to support company's products. Design PCBs and hardware for evaluation, testing, validation, and characterization. Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to create and execute sales plans for key customers in the US, EU and Asia. Work closely with Customers to understand system requirements and propose solutions that best fit their needs. Support Product Marketing and Design Engineering to help ideate and continually improve product portfolio and messaging, to differentiate and add value in a competitive landscape. Make and present training and seminars for internal and external audiences. Engage in relevant industry events, meetings and social activities to maintain and build meaningful professional relationships with key technical stakeholders at all organizational levels (engineering to C-suite). Minimum Requirements: BSEE or equivalent, MSEE preferred. 10 years of experience in product, design and/or field applications engineering or equivalent. Diverse Power circuit design experience at the board and system level. Example circuits include Buck, Boost, Buck-Boost, Isolated, and Battery charger topologies. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task many projects and set priorities based on business needs. Expertise in solution selling, early-stage innovation engagements, team collaboration and executive communication skills (written, verbal, presentation, etc.). Fluency with circuit simulation tools. Excellent hands-on lab and troubleshooting skills. Ability to help and mentor others with design issues and power simulation tool issues. Ability to travel in and out of the US, as needed, to support key account penetration. Hybrid Work Environment based in San Jose, CA.
