Job DescriptionArchitects complete cloud-native systems; designing, building/ assembling, and maintaining technically complex frameworks to support application development; and owning the IT processes that enable software development and deployment.Leads in outlining the technology/process vision in area of responsibility.Designs and develops technology products and integrates new technology projects into the technical landscape.Defines improvements to systems and processes that improve efficiency and competitive posture of the company.Evaluates vendor, service provider, and open-source code quality to ensure best-of-breed vendor and technology solutions.Leads in the analysis of technical requirements and the development of system designs daily.Creates project/technical collateral for internal IT partners and external service providers daily.Advises project managers, disciplinary managers, and product owners on technical solutions regularly.Guides software engineers and other IT partners in engineering best practices daily.Leads the ongoing development, support, and maintenance of multiple cloud infrastructure framework components, including web, services, enterprise application integration / service bus, microservices, cloud, and batch.Guides internal and external resources on the appropriate use of these frameworks and technology in support of product delivery.Defines the DevOps release management process and tools in an agile and rapidly changing environment.Fosters the execution of an agile release methodology and assists with all aspects of release management for our entire environment.Acts as a focal point for cross-functional items that allow the development teams to deliver projects and maintenance in an agile manner.Develops new applications and features that adhere to technical guidelines and business expectations in an Agile process, modeling coding best practices.Researches new technologies and provides recommendations to management around the uptake of those technologies.Ensures that product technical components conform to BMW Group IT standards and regional guidelines.Mentors software engineers on best practices for application development and reviews designs and code in furtherance of secure coding and design pattern implementation.Supports operational excellence goals through strong operations knowledge.Resolves escalated support topics as part of tier-3 DevOps role to ensure the highest availability of critical applications.Drives change and innovation from a technical perspective and advocates new technologies within formal and informal networks.Understands and models VPS (Value Added Production System) Principles and concepts of Standard Work and Problem Solving.Adheres to 5S and Safety Standards and Principles.Performs other duties assigned by management.Job QualificationsBA/BS degree in Business, Information Technology, Engineering or the equivalent of 4 years of experience in the management of information technology application development, maintenance and support.5+ years of demonstrated success in IT.3+ years in a senior level software engineering or architecture role esp. Cloud.3+ years of experience with Cloud Native Computing, esp. Docker & Kubernetes in public cloud.2+ years of advanced integration experience with RPC, Messaging, File Transfer, and Database Integration.1+ years working in Agile projects.1+ years of experience developing architectural designs using modeling techniques (UML, flowcharting, etc.).1+ years of experience building micro-service architectures.1+ years of experience in Agile methodologies (particularly SCRUM).Professional Hadoop training (Preferred).Hortonworks or Cloudera certifications (Preferred).5+ years of general technology principles, with a deep foundation in Cloud-Native Technologies.3+ years of strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills.BMW Manufacturing is a leader in innovations and excellence.
