Lead BI Reporting Analyst

Help defend our product owners from risk with technical debt data, controls reporting, and other critical success factors. The Data Analyst will provide data and reporting in support of large strategic business objectives by querying data and creating, writing, and pulling reports based on end-user needs. Actively develops the reporting community at Vanguard by coaching others internally and participating in external events.
In this role you will:Prepare both ongoing and ad-hoc reports of high complexity to support business goals and objectives. Acquire and compile structured and unstructured data and verifies its quality, accuracy and reasonableness.Engage with leaders of aligned business areas to understand business strategy, questions, and goals. Leverage deep business acumen of aligned business area to consult and anticipate reporting needs. Is well informed on business decisions in aligned business area and proactively adjusts reporting strategy. Stay abreast of advancements in reporting technology and participates in continued learning of technological advancements and business strategy trends in their aligned business areas. Communicate results of reports to leaders and management.Prepare and deliver visualizations and internal presentations, Train users on reporting tools.Design and writes ad hoc reporting as needed. Validate analytical techniques employed by other specialists. Lead advanced enhancement/automation initiatives. Provide guidance to other specialists on initiatives to implement enhancements or automation.Review queries for performance issues, making changes as needed. Act as team expert for escalated query or report-writing issues. Lead design and development of the system, as well as creation of user documentation.May conduct initial exploratory or descriptive analytics using data generated from queries.Develop, own and manage recurring reporting processes.Participate in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.What it takes:Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.Minimum of 5+ years related work experience.Preferred Experience:Expert knowledge of data visualization tools, data storytelling, and business needs to deliver data in a way that enables business users to quickly understand state of the business, form action plans, and ask better questions.Experience developing, owning, and managing suite of business aligned BI products.Demonstrated track record of building strong relationships across technical and non-technical crewStrong organizational and interpersonal skills required.Experience leading a project or program with Sub-Divisional impactStrategic thinkingTool belt:
