COMPENSATION:$450 / Weekly
POSITION DURATION:May 17, 2025 - August 1, 2025POSITION SUMMARY:This position will be responsible for running Camp Erdman’s Day Camp Program. This includes supporting staff and campers through quality of program, periodic evaluations and assistance where needed. This position has housing provided. A great fit for one of the Day Camp positions is somebody with supervisory experience, multiple years of summer camp experience and great report with former supervisors. The Director must have a thorough understanding of the YMCA’s mission and goals, and a desire to work with children between the ages of 5 and 17. Leadership skills, enthusiasm, patience, a sense of humor and self-control are all essential. The Day Camp Director should have experience in leading and motivating staff.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Plans and leads age and developmentally appropriate learning experiences in a classroom or group setting, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.Interacts with children and provides proper supervision of children at all times.Provides careful supervision and guidance to assigned Program Aides. Ensures Program Aides who are under 18 years of age are never left alone to supervise or monitor youth participants.Follows all procedures and standards as established by the law or the Y.Provides assistance with homework (depending on program) and encourages academic progress.Conducts ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child (depending on program).Serves as a positive role model, demonstrates professional behavior and understands positive youth development approaches to the academic and social development of youth.Facilitates a program environment that invites exploration, promotes positive play, and welcomes children.Promotes a team concept through a positive approach to supervision, communication, and interactions with others. Maintains on-going communication with the supervisor.Creates a positive rapport and shared interest with all youth.QUALIFICATIONS:Preferences
Bachelor’s DegreeLifeguard CertificationBus Driver CertificationSupervisory ExperiencePrior Summer Camp ExperiencePeer Leadership
High Ropes Certification requiredExperience working with childrenCPR/AED & First Aid requiredTB test required
