Plant and Department: Los Lunas, NM / Quality Department
Reports to: Quality Manager
Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to assist the Quality Manager in managing all the activities surrounding the physical/chemical testing of Products.
The main objective is to ensure that the testing, evaluating, and reporting are accomplished in accordance with quality assurance requirements and manufacturing specifications.
Supports the Quality Manager and Lead to ensures that all lab resources are utilized in the most efficient and effective manner.
Monitors and controls workflow in the laboratory to establish priorities in conjunction with the Production Supervisor and Shipping Supervisor to ensure both product quality and on time delivery is met.
Essential Functions:Provides the determination for the acceptance or rejection of all physically and chemically tested products.
Coordinates the calibration of all laboratory test equipment and instruments. Assists the QMS Coordinator in supervising and training all Laboratory Technicians.
Manages the Raw Material Approval process.
Monitors the automated certification process for adequacy and accuracy and generates special customer requested certifications and/or changes.

Other functions that this position may be asked to perform may include but is not limited to:
Archived sample clean up
Physical sample analysis
Sample paperwork scanning
Filing of paperwork
Responsible for the safety training of Lab. Technicians.
Participates in committees, as required.
Assists with special projects, performs various types of studies as assigned by the QA or Technical Service Manager.
Performs other related duties, as required.
Minimum Qualifications:Knowledge and ability to operate all laboratory test equipment, including calibration and maintenance.
Knowledge of, and the ability to, interpret external specifications, such as AWS, AMS, ASTM, GE, P&W, and any other customer provided specification.
Ability to handle and carry out multiple work functions even under heavy workload in a proficient manner.
Knowledge of, and the ability to, interpret ISO 9001/AS9100 quality systems requirements.
Provide for the safe handling of hazardous materials.
Education:
High school, 1-year minimum experience in QC inspection and Quality systems.
Working Hours and Conditions, including Travel Required:
Indoor, standing, walking, desk activity.
By-product of combustion: welding gasses, organic compounds. Cements/Stop Offs: methylene chloride, dioxolane, paint Thinner.
Dust contains nickel, chrome, cobalt, iron, silicon.
Visual - close, peripheral, focus.
The facility requires and provides steel toe shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, dust / chemical half mask respirator, gloves and special gear when needed or required. Alcohol / drug Free workplace 100% of the time
Normal working hours are 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM. The plant production areas work one, two and three shifts.
