Materials Manager
The Material Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Supply Chain department. This role involves coordinating various administrative tasks, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring seamless communication between customers, suppliers, logistics partners, and internal teams. The Material Manager is responsible for managing orders and documentation while also assisting with inventory management and procurement activities. Leading with curiosity, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multitask are essential for success in this role.
This is a hybrid position, requiring in-office workdays at our partner's Compass Datacenters HQ in Dallas.
What You Will Do:Shepard the procurement process, ensuring purchase orders are placed, materials tracked, and received both systematically and on-site.Manage and monitor slow-moving or obsolete inventory, coordinating with relevant departments to determine appropriate actions such as reallocation, discounting, or disposal to minimize financial impact.Conduct warehouse audits and coordinate the servicing and maintenance of equipment in storage, ensuring that all items are kept in good working condition (and within warranty) when requested for site delivery.Communicate with customers, suppliers, logistics providers, and internal departments to ensure smooth and efficient operations.Manage supply by monitoring stock levels, tracking shipments, and reconciling discrepanciesUtilize supply chain management systems to track and manage inventory levels, process orders, and generate reports, ensuring data accuracy and system efficiency.Prepare and distribute reports on logistics activities, including inventory status, order fulfillment, and delivery performance.Drive the resolution of supply chain issues, such as delayed shipments, order discrepancies, or inventory shortages.Manage and maintain relationships with customers, suppliers, and logistics partners, addressing any queries or concerns promptly (i.e., run regularly scheduled production meetings with vendor partners). Support supply chain projects and initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing overall performance.Analyze data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.Communicates issues, concerns, and awareness early and often.What You Need to Succeed:
Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, or a related field required.5 years of experience in materials/inventory management or a similar role.An ownership mentality and ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially ExcelFamiliarity with supply chain management principles and practices.Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.Demonstrated time-management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Experience with ERP systems or other supply chain management tools is a plus.Supply Chain certifications are a plus.
