Wireless Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Wireless Engineer to design, implement, and maintain wireless communication systems for our organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability of wireless networks, including Wi-Fi, cellular, and other wireless technologies. This role requires a deep understanding of wireless infrastructure, troubleshooting expertise, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Wireless Network Design and Deployment
Plan, design, and implement wireless network solutions, including Wi-Fi (802.11 standards), cellular, and RF systems.Conduct site surveys using tools such as Ekahau or AirMagnet to assess coverage and capacity requirements.Install and configure wireless access points, controllers, and related equipment.
Performance Monitoring and Optimization
Monitor wireless network performance using tools like NetScout, SolarWinds, or Cisco Prime Infrastructure.Identify and resolve issues related to interference, signal strength, and network congestion.Optimize wireless configurations to improve throughput, reliability, and coverage.
Wireless Security Management
Implement and maintain wireless security protocols, including WPA3, VLAN segmentation, and intrusion detection systems.Perform regular security audits and vulnerability assessments for wireless networks.Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory security standards.
Troubleshooting and Support
Provide Tier 2/3 support for wireless network issues, diagnosing and resolving connectivity problems.Perform root cause analysis of wireless outages and implement long-term fixes.Work closely with IT teams to integrate wireless networks with existing infrastructure.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain detailed documentation of wireless network configurations, layouts, and changes.Generate reports on wireless network performance, usage, and security metrics.Provide technical recommendations for improving wireless systems based on analysis and trends.
Collaboration and Training
Collaborate with IT and network teams to support infrastructure projects and deployments.Train IT staff and end-users on wireless technologies and best practices.Work with vendors and service providers to evaluate and implement new wireless technologies.
QualificationsEducation:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience:
3+ years of experience in wireless network design, implementation, and support.Hands-on experience with wireless equipment from vendors like Cisco, Aruba, or Ubiquiti.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of wireless protocols (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax, LTE, 5G) and RF principles.Proficiency with wireless diagnostic tools such as Ekahau, AirMagnet, or NetSpot.Understanding of network fundamentals, including routing, switching, and VLANs.Experience with wireless controllers, access points, and related hardware.
Certifications (Preferred):
Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA) or higher (CWSP, CWDP, CWAP).Cisco Certified Network Professional Wireless (CCNP Wireless).Aruba Certified Mobility Professional (ACMP).
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
