DEFINITION: Responsible for directing, modifying, and administering occupational therapy modalities of treatment as supervised by the Registered Occupational Therapist. Administers treatments and physical agents as directed by the Occupational Therapist, after the Occupational Therapist has evaluated the patient. The COTA assists with restoration of patient functioning to prevent disability following injury, disease, or physical disability. Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. The COTA participates in operational aspects of the department, maintains performance improvement activities within the department, and participates in PI activities. Participates in all infection control, departmental equipment training, organizational safety, and fire safety programs. Patients cared for or interacted with are infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatric.
REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS (IF APPLICABLE): Must be currently licensed and in good standing in the State of Oklahoma: or be license eligible with a temporary letter to practice granted. Must be under the Supervision of an Oklahoma licensed OTR.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Affiliation experience or employment experience in a physical disability setting is preferred. CPR Certification
