NBCUniversal Production Engineering has an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to become a Manager of Production Technology Support in our Production Project Engineering department at 30 Rock. This department supports all of the Studios & Control Rooms in a 24/7 capacity at Rockefeller Center along with facilities in other locations such as NJ, LA, Miami, and Washington DC.

Responsibilities:

Lead projects from inception to completion through all steps of the Production Engineering project management process – requirements gathering, design, implementation, system commissioning, training/launch, and transition to maintenance support team.

Work autonomously with little or no supervision to identify key tasks, devise appropriate timelines, and meet operational milestones and deadlines.

Create conceptual drawings to illustrate planned designs and incorporate new technology in existing workflows.

Create bills of materials (BOMs) as part of planning purchases and technology solutions for small and large-scale installations.

Use conceptuals and BOMs to have in-depth reviews of engineering solutions and costs with NBCU Engineering partners and NBCU Business Partners.

Work closely with project development and build teams, integration partners, design engineers, and system engineers, to ensure that project plans and conceptuals are turned into real-world design and implementation drawings/documentation.

Work closely with NBCU sourcing, finance, and vendors teams to ensure purchases are cost-effective, within the planned budget, and fulfilled in a timely manner.

Keep abreast of new production and system technologies to support such workflows, specifically in control rooms, studios, and core infrastructure.

Identify and recommend new technologies and solutions for operational problems and requests.

Complete configuration, setup, and testing on major initiatives across the NBCU portfolio of businesses.

Work closely with operations and maintenance support managers to ensure timely and efficient hand-off of new builds for day-to-day operations

Available to work during off-hours and weekends as required due to operational restrictions.

Act as support escalation contact for emergencies and troubleshooting as needed.

Engage vendor support where necessary to ensure equipment functions and is reliable. Make sure proper support resources are provided to maintenance and operation teams.

Basic Requirements:

6+ years of recent experience in a television broadcast environment.

Understanding of the 24/7 nature of the on-air News, Sports, and Entertainment environments.

Proficient with broadcast production systems and software including SMPTE standards, Evertz EXE Products, Calrec Audio Consoles, Intercom Systems, Sony Video Switchers, Facility Control Systems, and others.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Working familiarity with TV engineering and broadcast video/audio transmission systems.

Ability and willingness to learn new production technologies.

Willingness to work shifts/overtime including weekends, overnights and on holidays with short notice.

Must be able to work independently, yet have strong collaboration skills and meet deadlines.

Must be able to prioritize and be a proactive thinker.

Ability to stay focused and productive in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing assignments.

This position requires some work performed under potentially stressful situations.

Desired Characteristics:

Working familiarity with TV engineering and broadcast video/audio transmission systems.

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Broadcast Engineering or equivalent work experience.

Proficient with broadcast production systems and software including SMPTE standards, Evertz Products, Calrec Audio Consoles, Intercom Systems, Video Switchers, and others.

Solid Understanding of SMPTE standards as well as core technical/plant facilities, including 2110 environments.

Solid understanding of computer networking.

Expierience with Studio Technology, Set Technology, and LED Walls.

Proficient in software-driven broadcast video equipment.

Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.

Salary range: $120,000 - $150,000 (bonus eligible)
