Senior Sales Tax Technology Analyst

About the Role
You’ll work onsite from Monday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Fridays. As Senior Sales Tax Technology Analyst, you will partner with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate taxation and reporting, support sales tax systems/technology, oversee the product taxability assignment process at Kohl’s, and prepare fee compliance (environmental bag fees, electronic waste recycling fees, retail delivery fees, etc.).
What You’ll Do
Partner with Manager, Kohl’s Technology (KT), and tax engine vendor to maintain accurate tax calculations and reporting across all of Kohl’s systems; including testing, validation, analytics, and troubleshooting.
Oversee the product taxability assignment process for Kohl’s merchandise. This includes tracking and managing sales tax holiday events.
Assume overall responsibility for Kohl’s fee processes (environmental bag fees, electronic waste recycling fees, retail delivery fees, etc.), including journal entries, account reconciliations, and return filings.
Research existing and new indirect tax legislation to determine whether tax processes, Kohl’s systems, and/or reporting changes are needed to ensure tax compliance.
Support sales tax systems, product taxability, and fee inquiries from around the company (including KT, merchants, strategy) and other internal and external business partners
Identify, evaluate, and implement opportunities focused on increasing efficiency and minimizing risk/audit exposure. Examples include: AI, automation, redesign of processes, etc.

What Skills You Have
Required
Bachelor's Degree in one or more of the following areas: Accounting, Finance, Data Science, Computer Science, or other relevant field
Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and business leaders
Adept multitasker and ability to work independently
Advanced knowledge of Excel
Preferred
3+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Accounting/Tax, Finance, Data Science, Computer Science, or other relevant field
3+ years of experience with Indirect Tax Engine configuration and maintenance
Knowledge of data analysis tools such as Qlik and BigQuery
Experience in project prioritization and management
