Accountant

St. Louis Composting, Inc., producer of STA-Certified Compost, Mulch Products and Soil Blends, is seeking an Accountant. The Staff Accountant will prepare financial reports to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other financial activities.

Maintain and monitor company bank account activity, including daily bank feeds, matching and reconciling bank accounts. Coordinate with team members on any activity that needs to be recorded or adjusted.Perform general ledger reconciliation and ensure accuracy of account balances including prepaids, deposits, other assets, accruals, other liabilities and notes payable.Conduct account analyses to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.Support required monthly and annual sales/use tax return filings.Responsible for maintaining tax rates and reporting in NetSuite for sales tax reports and data to process properly.Maintain fixed assets (FAS in NetSuite) on a monthly basis, including, but not limited to additions/deletions, equipment sales, and posting monthly depreciation.Assist with Intercompany transactions including Leases and other activities including application of payments and month-end reconciliation.Assist with Inventory and general cost accounting activities.Maintain and generate financial statements and chart of account in accordance with GAAP standards.Support payroll processing and ensure timely and accurate payroll entries.Liaise with credit card processor to help identify any issues, disputes and process month-end bills for equipment and processing fees.Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigate issues providing explanations and interpretations.Process union contribution and dues reports and set up ACH payments.Prepare Certified Payroll reports.Assist with NetSuite automation activities and testing of new functionality as we look to take full advantage of our functionality. Look for areas of potential improvement.Serve as a backup for AP, AR, & Payroll when needed.Collaborate with other team members on various tasks and activities as needed to resolve and address any procedural issues.Gathers and researches necessary account and financial information for internal and external audits, assisting outside auditors as appropriate.Coordinate cross-functional accounting duties as appropriate.Maintain organized records of all financial transactions and documentation.Other duties as assigned by CFO.MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field is preferred.Familiarity with GAAP principles is essential.3-5 years of professional accounting experience.Proficiency with NetSuite (or other ERP) ,

MS Word, Excel and Outlook.Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy are crucial for success in this role.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
