Our client, a leader in the oil & gas industry, is seeking an up-and-coming
JIB Accountant
to join their Denver Division operations accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow their career in a stable and seasoned team within a well-established organization. Key Responsibilities: The
JIB Accountant
will be responsible for supporting the Denver Division with various aspects of division accounting, ensuring accurate and timely processing of joint interest billings. The primary tasks include:
Recording Overhead Charges and Cost Allocations (30%)The
JIB Accountant
will manage overhead charges, cost allocations, and equipment billings, ensuring that all charges are properly recorded and allocated to the correct accounts. This requires close attention to detail to resolve any stranded charges and reclassify them appropriately.Journal Entries, Accruals, and AFE Analysis (40%)The
JIB Accountant
will prepare journal entries, accruals, and assist in AFE (Authorization for Expenditure) analysis, ensuring all costs are accurately tracked and reflected. Understanding project accounting and working interest between partners will be crucial for success in this area.Account Analysis and Joint Venture Audits (20%)The
JIB Accountant
will conduct account analysis and assist in joint venture audits, providing insights into variances and reconciling accounts as necessary.Special Projects (10%)The
JIB Accountant
will take on various special projects assigned by the operations accounting team, which may involve random analyses and other tasks as they arise.Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or similar1+ years of experience in oil & gas industry accounting required(Experience with joint interest billings and working interest is highly preferred)Proficiency in Microsoft Excel , including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP, requiredSystem savvy
with a strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, including TeamsExperience with AFE setup and project accounting is a plusPersonality & Culture Fit: The ideal
