Trilogy at Vistancia: Golf Club & V’s Taproom

Trilogy at Vistancia is comprised of three feature club experiences, the golf club, the original community centerpiece, Kiva Club, and the recently introduced Mita Club. The golf course, the feature restaurant, V's Taproom, the full-service Alvea Spa, and the events & weddings venue are all available to the public.

Where:

Peoria, 40 minutes west of Scottsdale & Northwest of downtown Phoenix, Arizona

Pay:

$90,000 - $95,000 Annual

Benefits:

New management full-time team members working 30 hours or more per week, will be eligible for the Company medical, dental and life insurance plans the first of the month following the first day of full-time employment.

Full-Time team members are eligible to accrue Paid Time Off (“PTO”) in accordance with the Company policy at a rate of 120 hours per year.

Full-Time team members are eligible for 7 paid holidays annually.

All team members 21 years and older are eligible to participate in the J.F. Shea Co., Inc. 401(k) plan after completion of 30 days of service.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

As the leader of the Golf Operations Team, the Director of Golf is responsible for developing and implementing operational programs to provide first class service for guests, meeting or exceeding established standards for employee and guest satisfaction, sales and financial performance. This position reports to the Vice President of Operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Communicate the core values and mission of BlueStar Resort & Golf (BSRG) to support the achievement of company goals.

Collaborate with the VP of Operations to develop an annual business model and budget for operations and capital projects. Monitor all department budgets and ensure revenue targets are achieved.

Formulate and establish goals and operating procedures and create a shared vision among team members.

Develop an awareness of the social, economic, and political climate surrounding the Club and the golf industry. Act as a media contact and model community involvement.

Review weekly and monthly financial reports for each operation, including Food and Beverage, Golf Course Maintenance, and Marketing and Sales.

Initiate periodic competitive analyses and work with the management team to create innovative products and programs that exceed market expectations and ensure the Club is positioned to stay ahead of the competition.

Maintain effective communications with all team members regarding operations, human resources issues, and general business communication.

Interview and hire key staff positions and oversee their performance, according to BSRG established guidelines. Provide biannual performance reviews.

Model motivation to inspire all team members and act as a coach to encourage personal and professional success. Recognize and celebrate team member success; provide corrective actions when necessary.

Support employee development and succession plans by developing creative programs for the retention and recognition of employees and by encouraging a commitment to personal learning and development.

Understand association rules, regulations, and safety practices to assure compliance; encourage employees to work in a safe manner, use all personal protective equipment (safety gear) assigned, and report unsafe conditions or accidents to a supervisor.

Establish and manage purchase order programs, department checkbooks, contribution reports, and budgets for all golf operation functions.

Perform site inspections of the property and implement procedures to succeed in improving site inspection scores with department managers.

Regularly solicit feedback from guests and initiate staff conversations for improving processes.

Uphold BSRG’s strong commitment to the environment. Monitor procedures and the use of products and their safe disposal to ensure they are in compliance with EPA regulations.

Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:

PGA membership is required; active in local PGA section.

Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or other related field preferred.

Three to five years’ related experience, with supervisory experience required.

Knowledge and experience in all facets of golf management.

Current First Aid, CPR/AED certification, and other safety certifications, as required by the Club.

Computer literate with proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.

High competency in financial forecasting and budget administration with ability to create and maintain effective financial accountability.

Must have strategic planning, change management, problem-solving, decision-making, delegation, communication, time management, supervisory and employee development skills.

Must have strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, with exceptional customer services skills and an ability to respond to the needs and requests of coworkers and clients.

Must be able to consistently achieve high work standards; attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness.

Must demonstrate initiative, with an ability to think, work, solve practical problems, and make independent decisions based on sound judgment.

Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where continuous improvement is expected.

This position requires a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends, as well as occasional travel.

Valid driver’s license is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position generally operates in a professional indoor environment with some exposure to weather conditions, and occasionally native wildlife, when outdoors on the facility grounds. There is routine use of standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, copy and fax machines. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see and hear, speak clearly and understand the speech of another person; sit and stand (for an extended period), walk or be able to move around the office space, use hands to fingers, handle or feel, bend, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
