Summary:The Manager Transplant Finance and Business Operations supports Transplant Administration in the supervision and support of the Transplant Financial Assistance Coordinators and patient intake/referral management process. This manager reviews and approves case rate payments and expenditures as incurred and works with the Revenue Cycle management team to ensure that the transplant cases are properly billed according to contract. This manager also oversees appropriate billing, revenue and expenditure documentation and contract management applicable to legal standards related to the transplant portion of the cost report. Other information:Required Job Qualifications:•Bachelor's degree and at least three years of experience in a related field with substantial healthcare knowledge OR a Master's degree and at least two years of experience in a related field with substantial healthcare knowledge required.•Previous transplant financial experience required.•Progressive, relevant experience in finance or a similar field required.•Excellent oral and written communication skills, analytical skills, and communication skills.•Ability to summarize complex issues into key elements.•Ability to plan, organize, and direct the activities of others.•Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.•Experience with financial dashboards and analytic software.

Preferred Experience:•Master's degree in Business Administration or a related field•Demonstrated project management skills

Responsibilities:•Provides oversight for the financial clearance process for transplant evaluation, listing, and surgery as well as the patient intake process and related financial clearance activities•Leads initiatives related to transplant financial process improvement, and strategic/operational project management, and will work closely with managers, directors, clinicians, quality leads, and other team members to develop work plans, metrics and resources to achieve the department's strategic goals and objectives•Recruits, orients, trains, supervises, and evaluates transplant staff members to ensure solid financial processes, good business performance and achievement of fiscal expectations for transplant programs•Evaluates, develops, and implements monitoring mechanisms for financial performance•Develops and implements procedures to support successful financial performance of the transplant program.•Monitors acquisition billing and ensures charges are appropriately dropped and tracked, transplant claims are accurately bundled, and serves as a liaison for improvement of this activity with Rush Health counterparts•Collaborates with hospital finance to monitor the submission of time studies required for the Medicare Cost Report and ensures compliance with cost report regulations, including monitoring time studies•Completes Standard Acquisition Charge (SAC) review on a regular basis in collaboration with the transplant financial analyst•Manages Transplant Center contracts and collaborates with appropriate parties for renewal/termination/initiation of new agreements as well as single case agreements.•Tracks patient hotel usage and monitors for compliance with policy•In collaboration with the Director of Operations and Transplant Service Line Administrator, creates and submits capital requests for the Transplant Service Line•Monitors and maintains charge master and ensures timely and accurate billing and collection of transplant accounts•Optimizes and monitors usage of living donor assistance funds, both internal and external (e.g. NLDAC)•Tracks and trends payor relationship activity as reported by Transplant Financial Counselors•Assists with invoicing for vendors, lease arrangements, and payments outside of Rush•In collaboration with the Clinical Research Manager and Transplant Service Line Administrator, monitors Research Accounting Units and funds•Provides effective initial management/ownership of various cost centers. Coordinates with operational leads to understand relationship between operations and financials•Manages Referral Management Intake Team•Directly manages the team of Transplant Financial Analysts to ensure day-to-day financial tasks are completed (i.e. obtaining transplant financial authorizations and clearance)•Partners with leadership to advance improvement initiatives and opportunities.•Continually examines ways to improve business relationships with customers, suppliers, community, etc. and proposes ideas for how to implement improvements.•Facilitates annual goal development for the department in collaboration with leadership.•Provides regular, effective feedback and coaching for staff. Identifies and implements development opportunities as needed to improve performance.•Collaborates with IT as needed to manage transplant's needs.•Supports departmental based quality committees as needed.•Attends daily huddles and covers other shared management responsibilities as needed.•Performs other duties as assigned.
