General Summary
Employees of this technical class perform duties such as: updating and/or creating maps and/or design drawings using geographic information systems (GIS) or computer aided design (CAD) technology; communicating with the public; conducting research; reading and/or interpreting maps, blueprints, survey documents, or sketches; proofing or comparing the information contained on maps/drawings with information from different sources; measuring distances, areas, perimeters, and angles; and uses computer applications to enter, query information. Performs a wide variety of mapping and engineering support activities as listed above, or performs a specific function on a full-time basis. Employees may meet with other County and non-County personnel as work assignments dictate. On a technical level, may assist in resolving reported problems in the field. May be exposed to field conditions and confined spaces. Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.
Required Minimum Qualifications
At the time of application, all applicants must:Possess an Associate's degree or equivalent education from an accredited college, university, or technical school with a major in Engineering, Architecture, Planning, Geography, Surveying, or a closely related field.Have had at least one (1) year of full-time work experience performing computer mapping, engineering, community planning, surveying, property assessing or architectural work with a focus on GIS and/or CAD.NOTE : Applicable experience can substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.Possess a valid motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license.
Special Requirements
Must maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license.
Pay Range
USD $54,998.00 - USD $73,686.00 /Yr.
