Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center – Opening in 2025!
When open in early 2025, Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health will be the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 20 years! This teaching hospital will integrate clinical care with existing providers, The George Washington University Hospital, and the Urgent Care Center in Ward 8. This clinical integration will establish a robust system of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it will ensure residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community.
This full-service hospital will include 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for physician offices, clinics, a community space, a 500-car garage and a helipad for emergency transports.
We are seeking a Director of Health Information Management
Responsible for managing planning, organizing, directing and controlling all functions of the Medical Record department in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures, Joint Commission, HIPAA, CMS and DOH standards. Ensure service excellence development, personnel management, appropriate resource allocation and control. Assume direction of participation in special projects as needed. Coordinate hospital-wide compliance with state and federal regulations, especially relative to privacy and confidentiality in maintaining patient records. Ensure that all digital and traditional medical information vital to providing quality patient care is properly acquired, properly analyzed and protected. Responsible for utilizing and managing information management technology applications for health information and Electronic Health Records (EHRs). Thoroughly understands the workflow of high-volume acute care facilities and adjusts duties of departmental staff accordingly.

Qualifications
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree Required
Graduate of an accredited MRT or MRA program preferred
Experience:
5 Years experience in acute healthcare facility Health Information Management department with two of these years in a management or supervisory capacity
Experience with large integrated electronic medical record (Cerner, Meditech, Epic, etc.)
Skills: Demonstrated working knowledge of medical records practices and management.
Knowledgeable in assignment of DRGs, coding principals including ICD-9, CPT
Demonstrated proficiency with common computer-based applications such as electronic mail, word processing and various databases, whether PC, network or mainframe based.
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities
Knowledgeable in rules and regulations that govern reimbursement by Medicare and other health insurances
Comprehensive knowledge of Joint Commission standards and the role of the HIM Department
Demonstrated knowledge of effective management and supervisory practices.
Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledgeable in the state and federal laws that govern release of information and HIPAA
Interpersonal skills to foster a collaborative environment between staff members. Able to achieve operational goals through influence and expert change management skills. Demonstrates leadership abilities that contribute to a positive work environment. Promotes mutual respect and professionalism in working relationships.
Strong understanding of current HIPAA and privacy practices and law
License / Certification:
RHIA or RHIT certification required (RHIA preferred)
