AR Hardware Engineer
(aka The Device Innovator) to design, prototype, and optimize hardware solutions that power immersive AR experiences.As an AR Hardware Engineer at
our client , you’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop AR-specific hardware components, from displays and sensors to power systems and wearables. Your expertise in hardware design, system integration, and problem-solving will drive the innovation of AR devices that delight users and push technological boundaries.Key Responsibilities:Design and Develop AR Hardware Components:
Create and optimize hardware components, including optical displays, depth sensors, IMUs, and microprocessors, tailored to AR applications.Prototype and Test AR Devices:
Build and test prototypes to validate hardware designs. You’ll iterate on designs based on performance data, ensuring reliability and functionality in real-world conditions.Integrate Hardware and Software Systems:
Collaborate with software engineers to ensure seamless integration of hardware components with AR platforms. You’ll focus on achieving efficient communication and interaction between systems.Optimize Power and Thermal Management:
Develop solutions for power efficiency and thermal management in compact AR devices. You’ll balance performance and longevity to enhance user comfort and device usability.Collaborate on Display and Optics Innovations:
Work with display technologies such as waveguides, micro-LEDs, or holographic lenses to achieve high-quality visual output in AR devices.Conduct Performance Testing and Debugging:
Test devices for performance metrics such as latency, accuracy, and durability. You’ll troubleshoot hardware issues and implement solutions to improve device reliability.Stay Updated on AR Hardware Trends and Technologies:
Continuously research emerging technologies and advancements in AR hardware. You’ll incorporate innovations into your designs to keep devices at the cutting edge.Required Skills:Expertise in Hardware Design and Development:
Strong knowledge of PCB design, sensor integration, and microcontroller programming.Experience with Optical and Display Systems:
Familiarity with AR-specific display technologies like waveguides, OLED, and micro-LED displays.Proficiency in Prototyping Tools and CAD Software:
Experience using tools like SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar for hardware prototyping and design.Knowledge of Embedded Systems:
Proficiency in embedded systems programming, with experience in ARM Cortex or similar architectures.Problem-Solving and Debugging Skills:
Ability to troubleshoot hardware issues and refine designs based on testing and user feedback.Educational Requirements:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
Equivalent experience in AR hardware development may be considered.Certifications or specialized training in optics, embedded systems, or wearable technology are advantageous.Experience Requirements:5+ years of experience in hardware development,
with a focus on AR, wearable technology, or IoT devices.Proven track record of developing hardware components for consumer electronics or immersive technologies.Experience working on multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated hardware-software solutions.
