They have multiple retail cannabis locations and have grown extremely quickly over the last few years. They have an extremely professional and ambitious approach to their growth planning and are looking to build infrastructure to support this growth.Description
Prepare and review monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations specific to the cannabis industry.Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing and accurate record-keeping.Oversee inventory accounting and cost analysis, working closely with operations to optimize inventory management.Conduct regular reconciliations of bank statements and general ledger accounts.Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, analyzing variances and providing insights to management.Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial reporting.Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to cannabis accounting and finance.Mentor and train junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative team environment.
Profile
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.5+ years of progressive accounting experiencePrevious experience in the retail industry is highly desirable.Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting regulations specific to the cannabis sector.Proficient in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with QuickBooks or similar platforms preferred.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
