Director of Accounting/FinanceThe family office in West LA is seeking a Director of Finance/Accounting to lead the transition from outsourced financial operations to an in-house structure. This is an in-office role, requiring presence five days a week. The position reports directly to the COO and works closely with the Controller and Investment Team leader. The Director will develop and execute strategic financial plans, improve internal processes, and ensure the office’s financial goals align with its overall objectives. The position requires leadership, hands-on financial management, and strategic insight to build and strengthen the finance and accounting functions within the family office.Strategic Financial Leadership:Collaborate with the COO to establish the family office’s long-term financial vision, identifying key areas for growth and improvement.Lead the transition from outsourced to in-house finance and accounting operations, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.Analyze and provide recommendations on current and future financial strategies to support the family’s investment goals.Act as the primary advisor on financial decisions, developing a comprehensive understanding of the family’s objectives and translating them into actionable financial strategies.Provide input on investment strategies in collaboration with the COO and Investment Team leader to ensure financial decisions align with long-term goals.Financial Reporting & Tax Expertise:Oversee financial reporting, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.Work closely with the Controller to improve financial controls, reporting accuracy, and the quality of internal and external audits.Provide tax expertise, identifying opportunities to bring tax functions in-house and optimize tax planning and compliance.Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and manage any tax-related issues, including coordinating external tax advisors.Spearhead initiatives to enhance the quality of internal financial data, ensuring the family office is equipped with accurate, timely information to make informed decisions.Operational Efficiency & Process Improvement:Review and optimize the family office’s financial workflows, systems, and internal controls.Collaborate with the Controller to develop a robust internal structure for finance and accounting operations, making the department more efficient and less reliant on third-party services.Build processes that streamline reporting, budget forecasting, and financial analysis while enhancing transparency and accountability across the office.Assess outsourcing needs regularly and determine which services should remain external or transition in-house for greater efficiency and cost savings.Ensure the family office’s financial systems are up-to-date with the latest technology to allow for scalable growth and accurate forecasting.Leadership & Mentorship:Act as a mentor to junior team members, focusing on helping the next generation of family members develop their financial literacy and involvement in the family office.Work closely with the COO to identify and cultivate future leaders within the family office.Foster a culture of collaboration and professional development within the finance team, encouraging cross-training and knowledge sharing.Lead by example, promoting accountability, transparency, and best financial management and reporting practices.Collaboration with Key Stakeholders:Provide concise, bullet-point updates on financial performance, operational efficiency, and strategic objectives to the COO, ensuring regular and clear communication.Build strong working relationships with the Controller and the Investment Team to ensure that financial strategies are aligned across departments.Collaborate with external advisors and auditors to ensure compliance with regulations and support the family office’s financial and investment strategies.Act as a strategic partner for the COO and other senior leadership, contributing to high-level decision-making processes that impact the family office’s financial health and long-term success.Governance & Compliance:Ensure compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory standards, particularly concerning tax, investments, and financial reporting.Develop and enforce internal policies that ensure the family office operates within all legal frameworks while minimizing financial risk.Serve as a key point of contact for auditors and regulators, managing the relationship and ensuring the family office is prepared for any audits or regulatory reviews.Stay abreast of tax law and financial regulation changes, advising the COO and leadership team on necessary adjustments to ensure continued compliance.RequirementsCurrent or previous experience at the controller level or above in a Single Family OfficeCurrent or previous experience at the manager level or above in public accounting or business managementSalary: $300,000 – $325,000 + bonus Please send your resume in Word format to:Allan FisherPremier Financial Searchwww.pfssearch.comallan@pfssearch.com661-799-0101Multiple positions are available with various firms.If you have a background that includes public accounting but do not feel this position is an exact fit, please call or email resume as our firm can assist you in placement with other prestigious CPA and Business Management firms.Interested in Relocating?We specialize in assisting qualified candidates from out of town through the search process.
