As the

Senior Infrastructure Engineer , you will play a pivotal role in managing, optimizing, and driving continuous improvement of Cornerstone Building Brands infrastructure, with a focus on networking, virtualization, and core infrastructure systems. Reporting within the Managed Services organization, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, scalability, and performance of infrastructure that supports the company’s business-critical operations. You will collaborate with cross-functional IT teams and vendors to resolve conflicts, all while maintaining a customer-centric focus. Your ability to influence, strategize, and improve IT systems will be key in achieving high availability, performance, and efficiency for our managed services.This role will be crucial in ensuring the optimal performance, security, and scalability of Cornerstone Building Brands infrastructure and Managed Services. You will drive innovation and continuous improvement, positioning our IT infrastructure for the future while maintaining strong vendor partnerships and seamless service delivery.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESInfrastructure Management:

Aid in the design, deployment, and management of complex global infrastructure projects to ensure high availability and performance.Monitor and maintain the health of managed services including troubleshooting, upgrading, and optimizing infrastructure.Build new tools to support the continuous needs of IT and the business.Implement redundancy, failover strategies, and disaster recovery plans to ensure seamless network operations.Aid in the architecture and implementation of scalable virtualization platforms to meet the infrastructure demands.Optimize infrastructure, ensuring high availability, capacity planning, and resource management.Continuously assess and enhance core infrastructure systems (e.g., DNS, DHCP, AD, and LDAP), ensuring robust, scalable, and secure solutions.Collaborate with Architecture and TechOps to automate and optimize infrastructure provisioning.

Vendor Management and Relationships:

Lead vendor management processes, including vendor selection, contract negotiations, and performance monitoring.Resolve conflicts and ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met or exceeded by vendors providing hardware, software, and managed services.Act as the primary liaison with third-party vendors to drive improvements, manage escalations, and ensure timely resolution of technical issues.

Continuous Improvement Initiatives:

Develop and implement continuous improvement plans to enhance infrastructure reliability, performance, and scalability.Identify and evaluate emerging technologies to optimize infrastructure, reduce costs, and improve overall IT efficiency.Drive process automation and standardization across the infrastructure and operations to reduce manual interventions and improve response times.

Collaboration and Leadership:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, security, business units, and external stakeholders to align infrastructure projects with business needs.Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior infrastructure engineers and support teams, ensuring best practices are followed.Support Managed Services in developing strategic plans, budgeting, and project planning related to IT infrastructure.

Operational Support:

Oversee the day-to-day management and support of infrastructure, including incident management, change management, and root cause analysis for critical issues.Ensure timely and effective response to network and infrastructure incidents, providing expertise for resolution and prevention of recurring issues.Prepare detailed reports and documentation for system configurations, maintenance schedules, and performance metrics.

QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field required. Advanced certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNP, Fortinet, VMware VCP, ITIL) are highly desirable.8+ years of experience in IT infrastructure engineering with a focus on networking, virtualization, and core infrastructure systems.Proven experience in managing large, complex IT infrastructure projects, including network design and virtualization architecture.Solid experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V), storage systems, and core services like DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory.Experience working in and optimizing managed services environments.Expertise in networking technologies (Cisco, Fortinet) and protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VPN).Strong knowledge of virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), storage solutions, and high-availability configurations.Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Ansible) for system administration and infrastructure-as-code (IAC).Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and hybrid cloud integration.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively manage vendor relationships and collaborate with internal stakeholders.Strong project management skills, with a track record of delivering infrastructure improvements on time and within budget.Proven ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives within an IT environment.Excellent problem-solving skills, with a focus on resolving complex infrastructure challenges.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a focus on delivering results and continuous improvement.Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and provide mentorship.Additional informationWhy work for Cornerstone Building Brands?Our teams are at the heart of our purpose to positively contribute to the communities where we live, work and play . Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
