GTS team seeks an exceptionally capable and motivated individual to join as an Analyst to help deliver financial system mappings and manage data schemas to support our Indirect Tax function. The Analyst’s key responsibility is to fill a specific area of domain knowledge – to be the Tax department’s domain expert in Amazon financial systems. An Analyst uses this domain expertise to deliver tax solutions within Amazon’s financial systems.
The Analyst leads the end-to-end design and delivery of solutions to address tax booking requirements across geographies and business lines by delivering financial system schemas that are simplified, standardized, and globally scalable.
The right individual should have a solid understanding of indirect tax and/or accounting concepts, ability to work with (or an appetite to learn) data standardization and schema concepts, and solid business judgment capable of delivering the right results. We are a fast growing team in an emerging domain, so we're looking for candidates who are willing to go into unfamiliar territory and who are eager to learn new concepts and skills from our team.Key job responsibilities
This role performs a wide variety of responsibilities for the GTS organization including:Perform hands-on data analysis of large tax and financial data sets to propose standardized, global mapping solutions in Amazon financial systems.Work with Amazon Tax customer teams to identify improvements in efficiency and controllership for their current data processes; teach them how to utilize the designed reporting and functionality in their processes.Build and maintain relationships with our key technology providers across Amazon to ensure the necessary data is provided to meet Tax's financial system needs.Contribute to the delivery of multiple simultaneous tax projects by independently driving smaller projects or components of larger projects.A day in the life
A day in the life of an Analyst includes meetings with tax and accounting customers, data analysis, creating config and schema changes, including reviewing them with GTS and external peers.About the team
Our team mission is to deliver tax data correctly and completely in financial systems. Our team is distributed and deliver simple projects independently but we also collaborate synchronously and asynchronously to solve the more complex projects we encounter.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
BS degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, a related field or equivalent experience.5+ years’ experience working in tax, accounting, data analysis or related field.Strong critical thinking, verbal and written communication skills, and attention to detail.Ability to perform analysis and translate business objectives into actionable analyses.Creative, positive, and helpful attitude; ability to work in a team-oriented, customer-centric working style.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with large data sets, data reconciliation, and/or data investigation.Experience with indirect sales and use tax and/or VAT or revenue accounting.Proficiency at querying relational databases (SQL) and ability to pull data from various sources.Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $84,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.Posted:
