Lightsource bp was fully acquired by bp in 2024.What You’ll doLead team that is responsible for analysis and execution of merchant revenue streams such as energy, capacity, and RECs, for operational LSbp US projects.Develop risk mitigation strategies and negotiate bilateral commodities contracts.Manage the power markets analyst function, setting standards, and ensuring delivery of robust analytical support across power markets in the US.Serve as a subject matter expert of the RTO markets, FERC, and other policies and regulations impacting solar and storage value.Oversee the revenue management and optimization of the current portfolio of assets, including negotiating third-party agreements for scheduling services and management of Day Ahead-Real Time spread, and basis/congestion.Key interface with bp’s commercial analysis function, leveraging expertise to drive value creation for the group.Leadership in understanding developments across US markets and energy policy and the impact these will have on power markets to keep Lightsource bp at the forefront of the market.Demonstrate effective communication skills, both orally and written, when sharing work product and when communicating with internal and external stakeholders.Support the team in the development of innovative market pricing structures.Who we’re looking forKnowledge• Understanding of power markets, with focus on solar and storage• Understanding of utility-scale solar and storage development processes• Effective communication skills, both oral and written• Experience working across teams and functions to deliver results• Ability to efficiently and effectively articulate complex and ambiguous information in a concise and accurate manner• Strong results and detail orientation• Comfort working in fast-paced environmentsQualifications• Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree is a plusExperience• 8-10 years’ experience in power markets, preferably in the storage, solar or clean energy industry• Strong understanding of energy markets structures and value streams, including energy, Renewable Energy Certificate (RECs), capacity and ancillary services• Experience negotiating transactions with counterparties across the industry• Understanding of renewable project fundamentals including project development, business development, financingWhy you’ll make a great member of the teamPersonal qualities• Solid understanding of energy markets and commodities products• Strong commercial acumen and business development skills• Strong interest in current and future market trends in energy industry, particularly for utility-scale solar and storage technologies• Self-starter and highly motivated to be a strong team contributor• Ability to handle complex and highly ambiguous scopes of work• Ability to effectively and efficiently prioritize work with minimal supervision• Flexible approach to addressing opportunities and challenges in a fast-paced business environment, while maintaining a professional demeanorWe offer• Competitive compensation: $190,000 to $220,000 annually plus an annual bonus.• Health, dental, prescription drug, and vision care for US team members starts on your first day of employment.• Retention bonus starting in third year of employment• 11 paid holidays• Four weeks of vacation and three weeks of sick leave annually.• 401(k) plan, with a 3% nonelective employer contribution.• Hybrid working environment (two days in office, three days remote).• Monthly personal phone bill reimbursement of up to $100 and a monthly commuter benefit of up to $150.Why you’ll want to work with usOur company is a place where you can be yourself and grow – a place where your ideas and opinions matter.Be you: We pride ourselves on being an inclusive community, where every individual is valued and treated with respect.Be responsible: Our culture is driven by our core values.
