Summary Objective
The purpose of this position is to manage the operations of a large section of the City's Parks and Recreation system, or assist in the management of special events, recreation and parks personnel with development of recreation programming.
This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

- Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
- Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed. Plans, directs and implements a broad and varied program of parks and recreation activities and services to meet the needs of the public and children ages 4 - 18.
- Prepares or assists in the preparation of the annual budget for the complete operation of assigned parks or assigned areas for review by a superior.
- Supervises the operation of special events, maintenance and recreational services.
- Researches and recommends changes in events, programs and operations.
- Works with 3rd party software programs for recreation and facility rentals, timekeeping and invoicing.
- Prepares and maintains a variety of operational reports and revenue records.
- Supervises the collection of revenues from recreational programs, activities, special events and admissions; reports the progress and potential of revenue production through investigations or special studies; recommends changes in the quality of recreational programs and operations.
- Plans, organizes, conducts and supervises significant special events, including education for leisure activities, athletics, tournaments, festivals, concerts, fairs and expositions.
- Coordinates all road closures through FDOT for special events.
- Explains and interprets rules and regulations, fees, and recreational operations to park patrons; enforces or refers enforcement to proper authorities.
- Conducts periodic inspections of all park areas and facilities; observes efficiencies in operation, safety and condition; issues verbal and written directives to correct deficiencies prior to events.
- Prepares and maintains various operational reports on attendance, inventory, revenues and related information.
- Approves or reviews requisitions for materials and supplies for park operations and maintenance; supervises and maintains revenue records; manages park expenditures.
- Develops and implements general and therapeutic recreational activities for individuals with social, mental or physical disabilities.
- Meets with organized groups, individuals, or other interested parties to provide information, assesses community-wide program needs and interests, formulates new programs, and furthers public relations for the City.
- Ensures the safety of all program, activity and event participants and providers by following City policies and procedures and monitoring participants' activity
- Monitors recreation facilities to ensure security, proper working order of equipment, cleanliness of area and other potential maintenance hazards
- Greets visitors to the office and recreational facilities
- Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment; requisitions, supplies and equipment as necessary
- Assists in planning and monitoring programs for all ages

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Parks and Recreation Management or related discipline.
- Three (3) years of supervisory experience in managing large scale events or a large section of a parks and recreation agency or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
- First Aid/CPR within 90 days of employment.
- Certified Crowd Manager within 90 days of employment.
- Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP)
